July 30, 1936 - May 27, 2022

Willie D. Gibson, age 85, a former resident of Denison Heights in Batesville, Arkansas passed away in Bonham, Texas on May 27, 2022. Willie was born July 30, 1936, in Philadelphia, Mississippi and is a member of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians.

Willie was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Lillie Gibson, of Mississippi; his son, Willie D. Gibson, Jr., and stepdaughter, Denise Norton, both of Alabama; four brothers, William, Calvin, and Wayne of Mississippi, and Melvin of Oklahoma.

Willie is survived by his spouse of 34 years, Edna "Gwen" Mohlke Kimmer Gibson; three daughters, Katie Clemons and her husband Larry of Alabama, Renee Lloyd of Alabama, and Lisa Ginn and her husband Barry of Mississippi; his stepdaughter, Sonja Hammond and husband Dave of Texas; five brothers, Jimmy, James, Eddie, Ronnie, and Ronald; one sister, Lamona Billie; and grandchildren, Misty Snow, Kregg Lloyd, Tasha Breland, Derek Ginn, Eric, Daniel and Matthew Norton, Matthew and Ethan Hammond. Several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many friends nationwide. Willie is a member of the United Methodist Church.

Pallbearers are Matthew Hammond, Bo Gibson, Eric LaRose. Ethan Hammond, Derek Ginn, and Kregg Lloyd. Honorary pallbearers are Jordan Mohlke, Lavaughn Coles, Danny McSpadden, and Larry Apple.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 4, 2022, at the Roller-Crouch Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 a.m., with Carrol Mohlke officiating. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time.

Gwen Sonja and family. We are so saddened to hear of Willies passing. I know your hearts are broken but Willie is now free and whole and no pain. We have many great memories over the years with you and willie and will have those to remember him by. If their is anything I can do to help please do not hesitate to call or message me. I’m saddened to hear this news. I cut Willie’s hair for some time when he lived in Batesville and he was one of the kindest soft spoken men I’ve ever met. Gwen I’m so sorry for your loss and I’ll be praying for you in the days to come.
