Marilyn Sue Trone

of Clarksville, AR

October 18, 1944 - May 16, 2022

Marilyn Sue Trone passed away on May 16, 2022 at 77, surrounded by family after succumbing to a sudden heart condition. Marilyn was a devoted wife, caring mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.

She was born to Herman (Snapper) and Margaret Houston on October 18, 1944. Marilyn spent almost her entire life in Clarksville, Arkansas in close proximity to her siblings, Ann Williams and Herman Houston and her many nieces and nephews who survive her.

Marilyn is also survived by the love of her life, James (Jim) Trone, who she met at the College of the Ozarks during freshman orientation. Marilyn and Jim would have celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary the same week of her passing. When Jim faced health issues, Marilyn led the charge in his care. Throughout every hospital visit, you would find her at his side holding his hand, coaxing a smile out of him and learning what needed to be done to nurse him back to health. Their love is admired far and wide by all that witnessed and heard their story.

She is also survived by her two sons, James and Jared Trone, Jared's wife Miquela Campos-Trone and her granddaughter, Saylor Trone. Every visit, the boys could count on Marilyn and Jim waving goodbye from the driveway as she wiped a tear or two away. She cherished time spent with family.

Anyone who stopped by to visit Marilyn and Jim would likely find her bent over in laughter with her family and friends. Marilyn delighted in the colorful flowers, sunsets and sunrises that surrounded her home in the Arkansas River Valley. She would call Jim to her side to look out the window to see a rainbow after a storm, the new calves in the spring, butterflies in the summer and geese and ducks on the pond out back in the fall. To see the world through her eyes brought a smile to so many.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 19, 2022 from 5-7 PM at Roller-Cox Funeral Home.

Please join us in honoring Marilyn's life at her funeral service on May 20, 2022, 2 PM at Roller-Cox Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Woodland Community Center or Needy Paws animal shelter.

Marilyn's endearing personality and magnetic smile has always been with her, even as a young girl growing up next door to my family. Her devotion to Jim, family, and friends was to be admired, as well as modeled.
Shopping at Marilyn's tastefully stocked dress shop with my mother and sisters was always a "must" when I lived out west and came home on visits. I'm sure, more time was spent laughing and reminiscing with Marilyn and Ann than we spent money.
Marilyn was a true friend to all, true in her convictions, and her faith. She will be deeply missed. To all family members, do know that warm thoughts, prayers and heartfelt sympathy are with you.
