Norma Jean Rogers Carter, 94, of Little Rock went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 28, 2022. She was born March 26, 1928, in the Hickory Plains community of Prairie County, Arkansas, to the late Espie D. Rogers and Mary Ina McNeill Rogers. She taught elementary grades for 38 years beginning at age 18 in a one room country schoolhouse. She was loved and respected by students, parents and colleagues alike. She used her artistic ability to make many backdrops for school plays, costumes and teach art to her many students. Sewing was a skill she mastered at a young age and used this remarkable ability to make clothes, uniforms, and dance costumes for her children.

She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church since 1968. Her love of the Lord was evident in every aspect of her life. She has passed on a legacy of faithfulness, love, and hope in Christ to her two children, five grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents; husband, W. Don Carter; brothers; Delbert and Paul Rogers, and sister; Dorothy Roberts. She is survived by siblings; Phyllis Hillman and Willie Don Rogers, children; Dr. Mike Carter (Gena) of Conway and Carolyn Williams (Ray) of Little Rock; grandchildren; Christy Lax (Chris) of Little Rock, Cara Dean (Nathan) of Prosper, Texas, Leslie Lloyd (Chris) of Conway, Stephen Carter (Melissa) of Bentonville, and Kevin Carter (Samantha) of Conway; great-grandchildren; William and Caroline Lax, Henry, Wesley, Allie, Charlie and James Dean, Madison and Carter Lloyd, Elsa, Gemma, and Leo Carter, and June, Henry and Espie Mae Carter.
