Curtis "Paul" P DunhamI am a Veteran.

of Searcy, AR

June 12, 1932 - April 21, 2022

Curtis Paul Dunham, age 89, passed away peacefully at home on April 21, 2022. He was born to Delbert Wheeler Dunham and Steina Dylhoff Dunham on June 12, 1932.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Matilda, his step mom, Bessie May Dunham and His parents. His brothers, Ralph Dunham, John Dunham, David Dunham, and Charles Dunham. His sisters Anna M. Pratt and Dorothy Newman. One son, Gelmer Dunham and one grandson, Benjamin Paul Stracener (his namesake). Ben and Paul had a very special bond.

He is survived by his daughter Karla Jane Stracener (David), Searcy, AR and his sister Carolyn Haile (Arville), Heber Springs, AR and one brother, Stan Dunham, Beebe, AR. His granddaughter, Tillie Slavin (Phillip) and great granddaughters, Pippa and Emmie with third great granddaughter, Bennett expected in 3 weeks, Searcy, AR.

Paul was a faithful member of the Airport Loop Church of Christ. Paul loved attending worship services and rarely missed until his health prevented him from attending. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War with an honorable discharge. Paul worked many years as an electrician and maintenance man for Speed Queen where he retired. He could fix anything. Part of that generation that fixed and built their own stuff. A real common sense down to earth man that didn't care about impressing anyone but his wife. He loved Matilda and they held hands everywhere they went till the day she died.

He loved his family and upon retirement he and his wife Matilda moved next to Karla and her family in Center Hill, AR where they enjoyed many years watching their grandchildren grow up. Grandad and granny were a major part of their lives. If something broke at the grandkid's home they would just say "I'm going to grandad's to get this fixed!" On Ben's 4th birthday, a big dump truck pulled in the orchard between the houses and dumped a load of dirt on the ground and drove away. Paul looked at Ben and just said "happy birthday, Ben!" That was Paul. He will be missed.

Services will be held Sunday, April 24, 2022 at the Airport Loop Church of Christ with Visitation at 2:00PM and the Funeral Service at 3:00PM. Interment will follow at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery, Searcy, AR. All Services are under the direction of Roller-Daniel Funeral Home, Searcy.

Uncle Paul was loved by many nieces and nephews across the years. Always quick to bring a smile to someone’s face, he was a honest man with a big heart. He will be fondly remembered by many.
