of Greenwood, AR
January 10, 1937 - March 9, 2022
Rose Yearington was born January 10, 1937, in the small town of McCrory, Arkansas. She passed peacefully to heaven on March 9, 2022 in Fort Smith.
Rose spent her childhood on a farm, working hard alongside her 8 brothers and sisters. She eventually married, moved away, and worked for General Motors. She had a life full of adventures. She loved gardening, cooking, quilting, fishing and traveling. She was an accomplished crafter and crocheted and knitted many blankets; she could sew anything - even jeans and shirts; she made and sold fancy Christmas wreaths and light displays. She could pretty much make something special out of anything, or nothing. Through the years, she delighted in spending time with her grandkids, playing cards or board-games with friends, and watching her old westerns. She was one of a kind with her great sense of humor, infectious laugh and no-nonsense tell-it-like-it-is kind of style. Her sister, Dorothy Drymon of San Jose, California, was her best friend and constant phone companion.
She is survived by her son, Dan Murray and wife, Janice; sister, Dorothy Drymon; brother, Virgil Jones and wife, Nedra, together with many nieces and nephews. Rose raised her son, Dan Murray who gave her grandsons, Ryan, Justin and Kyle. Kyle and his wife Samantha gave her great grandsons, Jonathan and Zachary. Dan and his wife, Janice, loved her visits to Tulsa where they would play countless hours of cards and listen to Rose's favorite country music.
Not long after Rose adopted Dan, she surprised her husband by adopting another baby, Deborah Grubb, (now deceased). Debbie gave her a granddaughter Jessica Hester Shaffer. Jessica and husband, Jess, gave her 3 additional grandchildren, Kadin, Kaileigh, and Kaitlyn.
Rose leaves the legacy of a beautiful family who will miss her greatly. While many family members helped Rose through the years, special thanks to Jessica and her family for their never-ending kindness and care.
Graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 19, at Cedar Grove Cemetery, located south of Ratcliff under the direction of Roller Funeral Homes.
