Dorothy Launius

of Searcy, AR

October 6, 1926 - January 23, 2022

Dorothy Magee Launius, age 95 of Searcy, AR, formerly of Pine Bluff, AR, died on Sunday, January 23, 2022. Mrs. Launius was born on October 6, 1926 in Illinois, the daughter of the late Justin Magee and Ellen Verba Whitledge Magee.

Mrs. Launius moved to Bloomfield, Missouri, where she met the love of her life, Kent A. Launius. They were married on May 26, 1946. They enjoyed a 56 year union until Mr. Launius passed away on January 29, 2003.

Mrs. Launius enjoyed working on the gardens at her home, which she treasured. Azaleas and mums were two of her favorite things to add around the yard! She also enjoyed piecing together quilts, which will be loving reminders of her to her family on chilly days. Dorothy was a member of First Baptist Church in Searcy.

Survivors include one daughter, Linda Bennett (Robert) of Little Rock, AR; one son, Larry Launius (LuAnn) of Searcy, AR; one grandson, Jason Bennett (Alicen) of Little Rock, AR; and two granddaughters, Christy Deneke (Edward) of Ann Arbor, MI; and Jennifer Shank (Bryan) of Searcy, AR; and six great-grandchildren, Alexandra and Westley Deneke of Ann Arbor, MI; Aiden, Ryan, and Lillian Grace Bennett of Little Rock, AR; and Harper Shank of Searcy, AR.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one brother Norman Magee, and two sisters, Juanita Magee Capps and Betty Magee Phillips.

Graveside services for family only will be conducted on Thursday, January 27, 2022 with Dr. Brian Whitney of First Baptist Church, Searcy AR, officiating. Interment will follow at White County Memorial Gardens.

Memorials may be made to Habitat for Humanity.

We are all saddened to hear about Aunt Dorothy and wish we could be with you all during this time. Clyde, Carol, Tom and I have all talked about her and send our love and condolences. We made a donation to Habitat in her name, which is only a small gesture considering the life she has led and wonderful kids and grandkids as a result, who no double will continue her legacy. Just know we are thinking of you at this time. — Love, the Vaughn family

Ms. Dorothy is our dear next door neighbor. We are so sad to hear of her passing and will miss our backyard conversations about flowers, gardens and family. Ms. Dorothy was always so kind and enjoyed showing us her variety of bushes and flowers in her beautiful yard.
Please know that she was loved by the Finley family and will greatly miss her!
