Richard was a very loyal and honest, hard working man who was very devoted to his family, country and community. He loved to spend time in the outdoors hunting and fishing, going bowling and taking trips to Branson.

He is preceded in death by his parents listed above, his wife of 52 years, Barbara Ann (Birkhead) Arndt; one brother, Eddie Arndth and two sisters, Mildred Pakalski and Monte Burr.

On behalf of the Benton School District and the Benton JROTC Panther Battalion, please accept our condolences on the passing of SSG Arndt. He laid a great foundation for this program and I, along with my fellow JROTC instructors, hope that we can continue to have such a positive influence on our Cadets as he did.

SSG Arndt was a wonderful person. My husband and I were both in ROTC at Benton High School. Wish we had taken the time to visit him and your Mom while they were still alive. We saw them at a Springdale Walmart probably 20 years or more ago after not seeing him since high school. He recognized me and we recognized him. I'm sure he will be greatly missed.

Dear Eric and Sallie, I knew your Father very well. He was the first JROTC Instructor at Benton High School during the time I was in the program, 1969 — 1972, the first 3 years of Benton JROTC. There were occasions when I, and several cadets, would invade your home on Friday or Saturday evenings on unannounced visits. You were both quite young at the time. In later years, I would call him in Paris when he was working in Law Enforcement. I only found out today, Thursday, January 27, 2022, of his passing, and of your mother’s earlier passing. SSG Arndt was an excellent mentor and a blessing to many lives, mine included. You can reach me via my email or call me at 407-209-6981. Funeral Home Managers, please see that his children get my complete message. Thank you.
