Marc Henri MacKenzie

of Little Rock, AR

July 16, 1958 - January 11, 2022

Marc Henri MacKenzie, 63, of Little Rock, Arkansas went to be with the Lord on January 11, 2022. Marc was born July 16, 1958 in Waterloo, Iowa to Dumont and Donna MacKenzie.

Marc was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan. He enjoyed watching and playing golf. He looked forward to the boy's annual fantasy draft night and spending the holidays surrounded by family. A normal day for him was watching Andy Griffith in the morning, spending time at one of his Sonic Drive-In locations, and coming home just in time in the afternoon to watch Judge Judy. In the summer, you could only find him at the beach enjoying a glass of Johnny Walker, a good stogie, and listening to the great Frank Sinatra. He loved life, but his greatest love of all was his family. Nothing brought him more happiness than the time he had with his children and grandchildren.

Marc is preceded in death by his parents, Dumont and Donna Mackenzie and one sister, Carol MacKenzie of Cabot, Arkansas.

He is survived by two brothers, Steven (Cindy) MacKenzie of Hot Springs, and David MacKenzie of Hot Springs Village; three children, Derek (Bethany) MacKenzie of Conway, Arkansas, Marci MacKenzie of Alexander, Arkansas, and Michael (Bree) MacKenzie of Roland, Arkansas; eight grandchildren, Merek Marc, Zoey Beth, Marilyn Marie, Rowan Shaun, Grace Nicole, Luke Michael, Declan William, and one grandchild due in July of 2022; six nieces and nephews; and many other treasured family members and friends.

Visitation will be held at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home Sunday, January 16, 2022, at 3:00 pm until 5:00 pm. The funeral service will be held at Roller-Chenal Funeral Home Monday, January 17, 2022 at 11:00 am. Brother Gregg Greenway will officiate.

I’m so sad to see this!!! I knew Marc from age 15 til now except that I haven’t seen him in a while. I was hoping to show him a new place for a “store” and Carol Ann and I called it as I worked there part time during school, Marc’s niece Taylor and my daughter were born the same week and I worked part time even doing my full time job while Carol Ann went through treatment for cancer. I know Mr. Dumont and Mrs. Donna and visited them in Hot Springs Village with her often. It’s hard to see Marc pass so young. The girls didn’t get tips back in those 80’s but Derek as a wee naughty boy would go through and take them from the counter by the sink. For Derek and Marci especially, since they were so small when I knew them. Derek, I’m sorry for the loss of your dad. He was super good to me and I loved my job in and out for more than 20 years and rode with the Waste Management driver to dump all the food when the store burned and had to be rebuilt since I was the Operations Specialist for 12 years and was so sad about it. Marc was a wonderful store owner and I was proud to be part of many 50’s days and have scars on my fingers for making onion rings (that’s right, they weren’t pre-cut back then). I’m really sorry to see this news.
Much love and many prayers for David and Steven.

Today, January 31st, I just got the news of Marc's passing. I was extremely proud of his success in the Sonic business. Marc was one of my first managers in Morrilton. He was very loyal and when he left to start on his own franchise, I knew he would do well. Kea and I send our condolences to the MacKenzie family. May God comfort you all during this time of sadness.

I was a neighbor of Marc and he was a wonderful man and will be missed. We played a lot of basketball together growing up in Iowa. May the family find peace in all the fond memories.

Derek, Marci, Michael and all MacKenzie family and friends:
Our thoughts and prayers are with you. We enjoyed Marc so much during those early days in Stuttgart when the Sonic business was his beginning and the kids were involved in sports and other activities. Marc worked hard and embraced life, especially revolving around his family. Although we have not seen him in a few years, time has not diminished the good memories, his smile or his generosity. God bless each of you and comfort you with his love.

I did not know Marc. I wish I had. I read his obituary in today’s Gazette and thought his daily routine , his choice of music, spirits, cigars, and his love of family just spoke to me . Obviously anyone who knew him should consider themselves lucky. My condolences to Marc’s family and friends on the loss of this dear person.
