Harold D Stark

of Bee Branch, AR

August 10, 1949 - January 9, 2022

Harold Stark went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 9, 2022. He was born at Conway, Arkansas on August 10, 1949 to Willard and Reba Stark and was preceeded in death by both of his parents. He was a caregiver by nature; after our dad's death he retired, sold his house, and moved to Bee Branch to take care of our Mom. He also was a caregiver for a neighbor, Miss Mary Helen Baker, our high school business teacher. If any of us was sick, he was there with food and offers to help.

Harold graduated from South Side High School in 1967. He received a BS Degree from the University of Central Arkansas in 1971 and his MSE degree in 1973.

He loved basketball games, especially high school games and would travel miles to watch South Side play ball. Harold also loved the Razorbacks, cattle auctions and beauty pageants. He judged several local pageants. He always loved playing basketball and visiting with friends.

Harold was employed at Northeast High School in North Little Rock as a career education coordinator for special needs students . He was selected as Arkansas nominee for vocational special needs teacher of the year. Under Harold's direction, the Northeast CCECA Chapter had been named outstanding chapter of the year 1981,1982, and 1983. The group was awarded a national certificate of merit from the United States Department of Education. He loved his students and loved to see them succeed.

Harold loved his farm and took a lot of pride in having things perfect and efficient. After he retired to take care of our Mom, he began to increase his herd of Charolais cattle and built up a reputation for having good breeds of cattle and a beautiful farm.

Christmas was his favorite time of year. Every year, he and his students worked on a Christmas float. He managed to get most of the family involved. One of us would drive the float, while he rode on the float with the students and some walked along side it. He loved having his teacher friends at Christmas for lunch and fellowship. He decorated his home beautifully inside and out for Christmas.

He leaves behind two sisters, Linda Linn (Danny), and Jeanne Dale and 5 nieces and nephews; Susan McCoy (Ric), Christy Priester (Eric), Matthew Hartwick (Rachel), Blake Hartwick (Bridgette) and Kelly Dow (Heath). Great nephews and nieces are Raegan McGhee (Bryce), Andrew Priester (Reagan), Nic Priester, Kavanagh McCoy (Jessie), Rileigh Offenbacker (Aaron), Kyler Hartwick, Brady Hartwick, Lane Hartwick, Kipley Dow, and a great great nephew, Greyson Stark McGhee and a special friend Debbie Allison. He will also be greatly missed by Diane Lucas, Ruth Thomason and Tracy Hutchins.

He was a wonderful son, brother, uncle and friend and will be greatly missed. He loved to play practical jokes and he spent hours selecting gifts and cards for all of us. It was not unusual for he and a cousin Donna to go to the lake and eat and bring back large pieces of chocolate cake to give to neighbors.

Harold attended First Baptist Church in Clinton, Arkansas. He loved the Lord and loved reading his Bible. The scriptures were a great comfort to him. His Bibles were worn and highlighted throughout.

Services will be Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at Roller McNutt Funeral Home in Conway. Visitation is at 1:00pm in the chapel and 2:00pm for the service. Burial will be at the Bee Branch Cemetery immediately following the service. The family will be at the Stark home place after the service.

Pallbearers are Matthew Hartwick, Blake Hartwick, Kyler Hartwick, Nic Priester, Doug Green and Rick Ham.

The family does recommend wearing masks at the visitation and chapel services, Thank you.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Renewal Ranch at P.O. Box 1128 Conway, AR 72034 or a charity of your choice.

I come to this site quite often to reminisce about Harold and our many times together. He was like another brother to me. We loved each other in a very special way. He brought in to my life many wonderful people who loved him just as I did. Harold had a very special personality. He could be so funny. I miss the laughter. Not that he couldn’t make me mad, and vice versa, but I miss those times too. He was so faithful to spend each day with God and I held such an admiration for his faithfulness. Even though it’s been just over a year, the sadness of his passing will always pierce my heart. I will always miss him. I am very thankful that I had the honor to spend those special moments with him after his passing; just he and I. I believe everything happened just as it was supposed to. Love always to the family who are also family to me.

We loved our Harold. There will never be another like him. We will miss his phone calls and visits when we were in that part of the country. We will especially miss his sense of humor and wit and his smile as he told a good story. Harold was a caring and giving person. Many were touched by his deeds.
Love and miss you, Cousin!

Our Loss is Really Heaven's Gain!

I am sure, Harold is up there playing practical jokes, and making people laugh.

I know he sure did here when he was a CCECA Coordinator in the North Little Rock School System.

I think about being at Conferences and Conventions with him and I automatic start smiling because Harold was a jokester, and a joy to be around.

May God Bless Harold's family, and hug you all unto Himself.

I shared an office with Harold for about 6 years and taught next door to him at Northeast High school in the late 70's. I saw first hand how creative he was and how well he could motivate those special needs students. during the 80's and 90's I taught math to most of his CCE students and heard many comments from his students about him. They all loved him. They knew what a good teacher he was and they appreciated him. My wife when I was sharing an office with Harold later became his CCE supervisor and had a close working relationship with him. Ironically, both passed away last weekend less than 24 hours apart. Special needs students lost two great advocates hours apart. My condolences to Harold's family. I know first hand from working with him probably 25 years what a great teacher and person he was. God bless you Harold.

Harold was such a forever friend. He loved everyone. He was a brilliant artist and decorator. His classroom always looked like a magazine layout. When he taught in North Little Rock, he often held special occasions for teachers. Once he had "Pie in the Sky" in the school tower, which was quite an undertaking because the tower wasn't regularly used. When he finished dressing it up, the tower looked like a fine dinning room. Rest in Peace, Harold. The world has lost some of its shine with your passing.

As I drove into town last night, I just couldn't believe my sweet friend dear was gone. Over the past few years I knew I could always call on Harold when I was down or lonely and he would have me laughing before our phone call was even over, Harold loved to dance and really enjoyed going to dances wherever the "Loose Ends" or a Motown band might be playing. At UCA ballgames he would bring back M&M's calling them "vitamins". He was also a loyal Phi Sig Alum and enjoyed their yearly reunions at Cathy and Robert Toney's home. Before I moved to Texas, he and Debbie A. would even let me tag along on their dates some. Many years ago he was also a great friend to my precious classmate Sharon Pearson, before she passed away way too young in 1986. He was like having a big brother to me that I could always count on. My deepest Sympathies go out to Jeanne, Linda, Debbie A., and all his family and friends that loved him dearly. HE WILL BE TRULY MISSED!!!
