Melanie Dace Gordon

of Vilonia, AR

February 4, 1967 - January 8, 2022

The world has lost one of its most precious people, Melanie Linn Dace Gordon. She was born on February 4th, 1967, in Conway, Arkansas, to Robbie Linn Dace and the late Douglas Dace. She passed away on Saturday, January 8th, 2022.

Melanie married the love of her life, Stanley Gordon Jr., on October 5th, 1990, and raised four beautiful children, Seth, Lydia, Luke, and Hannah. In Stanley's words, Melanie loved her family, she loved her friends, she loved her Church family, and she loved her community.

Melanie always had a smile on her face, lit up whatever room she was in, and always made sure everyone had the best before herself. She cherished her friendships made through Bunco, iWalk, Heartfelt Moms, book clubs, and her kids' sporting events, making everyone around her feel like her best friend. Even in the hardest days of her cancer treatment, she thought of others, preparing meals and quilting for her family and those she loved.

She spent countless days at the ball fields cheering on her kids, reading her favorite novels, frequenting the theater, and completing marathons with her iWalk girls. She was always up for anything, taking many fun vacations with her kids, nieces, and nephews, even with only a moment's notice.

Melanie is survived by her loving husband, Stanley Gordon Jr., son Seth and wife Abbie of Conway, daughter Lydia of Conway, son Luke and wife Kelsey of Vilonia, daughter Hannah of Vilonia, mother Robbie Linn Dace of Conway, brother Keith Dace and wife Shelly of Oklahoma City, brother Harold Dace and wife Stefanie of Conway, along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, beloved family members, and cherished friends.

Though she wore invisible wings here on earth, they are now big and beautiful wings, with no pain or discomfort. She was the most incredible angel and will be missed.

Visitation will be from 6pm to 8:30pm Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at Robinson and Center Church of Christ in Conway. Funeral services will be held at 11AM on Thursday at Robinson and Center Church of Christ. Burial will follow at Cypress Valley Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family ask that memorial donations be made to the Vilonia Senior Citizens Center and/or the Vilonia Disaster Recovery Alliance.

Please know that all of you are in my thoughts and prayers. My sincerest condolences for an incredibly great loss. Melanie and I graduated together in the Class of'85. Although I've only seen her a few times since, I can’t remember a time when she wasn’t smiling, kind and just all around beautiful. She was such a shining light in so many people's lives. Someone as special as she was will never be forgotten and she will remain in our hearts forever.

Your hearts are hurting now, and that pain is a tribute to Melanie Gordon. If she had not been such a wonderful person, you would not be grieving for her. When I met Seth, Lydia, Luke and Hannah and discovered what beautiful souls they had, I was so impressed with how well their parents had prepared them to be a light in our world. She was a beacon for all of us. Right now, the memories that come to mind bring you to tears. But slowly, those memories will bring you comfort. You'll hear a song that was one of her favorites, and it will cause you to smile. An old movie will show up on TV, and you'll recall how she enjoyed it, and that will bring a warm glow to you. Cherish the memories, just as she cherished you. I am praying for each of you. I love you.

I spent only a few minutes with Melanie every time she picked up or dropped off her children at school, art, or g/t activities, but she was always smiling and friendly. I spent a lot more time with her children, from Seth's kindergarten year to Hannah's senior year. Her children reflected her love and kindness, her creativity, and the warmth of God's love for us all. She will be greatly missed, but her legacy lives on, shining their lights for all to see.
