Freda Belle Cole

of Harrison, AR

August 26, 1938 - December 23, 2021

Freda Cole, age 83, of Harrison, died on Thursday, December 23, 2021, in Asheville, North Carolina. She was born to John and Velma (Gass) Stuckey on August 26, 1938, in Harrison, Arkansas.

Freda dropped out of school at the age of 14 to marry Billy M. Cole on June 29, 1953. She finished high school with a GED decades later. She remained a lifelong resident of Harrison, living on Lone Oak Dairy Road for 68 years. She became a widow on June 18, 2021.

She and Billy traveled extensively, visiting all 50 states and several countries. She was a talented seamstress and landscape artist. She served as the president of the Eagle Heights Elementary PTA. She was an active member of the Northside Church of Christ in Harrison. Her kindness, love, and devotion to her family and friends continue to be an inspiration to all who knew her.

Freda was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; three sisters, Ora Bee Morris, Cathleen Flippo, and Joan Hill; and a brother, John C. Stuckey, Jr.

Survivors include a son, Dr. Michael Cole and wife Jeannie of Fort Smith, Arkansas; a daughter, Becky Newberry and husband Andy of Candler, North Carolina; five grandchildren, Angelique, Alan, Steven, Brian, and Heather; and nine great-grandchildren, Corbin, Rhiannon, Adilynn, Garrett, Carmen, Kinley, Morgan, Ella, and Ruby.


The family visited with friends at the Northside Church of Christ Activity Center for a celebration of Freda's life on Thursday, January 6, 2022.

Private burial with her immediate family was at Gass Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Christeson.
