IvaLee Irene Cantrell (Harris), 95 years and 6 months, went to her Heavenly home to be with The Lord on Sunday, November 28, 2021. She was born on April 18, 1926, to Chester and Beatrice Harris in Sheridan Lake, Colorado.
IvaLee was a school teacher for several years in a one-room schoolhouse teaching all grades. She then later became a seamstress in San Antonio, Texas, which she continued after moving back to the Arkana Community. She was also employed at Baxter Lab up until she became retirement age. IvaLee loved sewing for people as well as knitting, and crocheting gifts for her children and grandchildren. She also made numerous quilts. She also enjoyed gardening, canning, raising animals and especially enjoyed being around her family. When she was younger, before marriage or starting a family of her own, she enjoyed going to community youth functions with her sisters. As the oldest of six girls she helped on the farm, helped cut and split wood, and traveled mostly by horse and wagon to town with her family or they walked around the local community. They raised sugar cane and it was an annual event to press and cook the cane to make sorghum.
IvaLee is survived by her three sons: Ronnie Cantrell, Gerald (Judy) Cantrell, and Norman (Dana) Cantrell; two daughters: Ceona (Jerry) Nugent and Wenona (Joey) Strain; grandchildren: Caley (Amanda) Cantrell, Scott (Harriett) Nugent, Angela (Mark) Lockman, Danny (Michelle) Sharp, Randy (Natalee) Sharp, David (Jessica) Strain, Sarah (Rocky) Moore, Jessica (Russ) Garner, Travis (Sarah) Strain, Hannah (Clay) Strain, twenty-seven great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren; Her sisters: Bernita Coy and Beulah Deaver, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Dervie Cantrell, her sisters: Sylvia, Opal and Iola; her parents: Chester and Beatrice Harris and her daughter-in-law Vonda Cantrell.
