Delbert Ray Kennedy, 89, of Cord passed away Monday, November 22, 2021.

He was born November 2, 1932 in Dowdy, Arkansas to Avery P. and Lena Sanders Kennedy.

Delbert was a row crop and peach farmer. He was a member of Cord Baptist Church where he served many years as a deacon. Delbert served in the United States Army. Over the years he enjoyed reading the Bible, golfing, hunting, and raising catfish. He simply loved to watch things grow as he stated many times.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, David Keith Kennedy; son, Scott Alan Kennedy; two brothers, Joe Kennedy and Pete Kennedy; and three sisters, Bernice Richey, Evelyn Lance, and Verna Faye Latting.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Velda Mae Parr Kennedy; three daughters, Pam Gipson (Denny) of Cord, Paula Osborne (Chuck) of Cord, and Teresa Milligan (Jeff) of Newark; one brother, George Kennedy (Caroletta) of Cord; six grandchildren, Amber Davis (Jeffie), Adam Gipson (Torie), Charley Osborne, Amy Allison (Andrew), Hannah Evans (Brandon), and Elliott Milligan; five great-grandchildren, Cambry Davis, Kendy Davis, Presley Gipson, Isaac Allison, and Peyton Gipson; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Dunehew, Adam Gipson, Jeffie Davis, Andrew Allison, Brandon Evans, Charley Osborne, and Elliott Milligan. Honorary pallbearers are Ted Parr, Jim Williams, Jerry Kausler, George Kennedy, and the staff of Cave City Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be Friday, November 26, 2021 at 11:00 am at Cord Baptist Church with Bro. Jeff Childers officiating. Burial will follow in the Hopewell Cemetery at Cord with arrangements by Roller-Crouch Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 am Friday, November 26, 2021 at the church just prior to service.
