Shelby Jean Melson, 85, of Ozone, died Sunday, November 21, 2021, with her loving daughter by her side. She was born October 23, 1936, in Patterson Springs, to King and Pearl (Whelchel) Brown. Shelby was a loving mother and grandmother. Shelby was an active member of the Ozone Baptist Church where she served as Bible School Director for over 30 years. She was deeply devoted to her family and her church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Carl Eugene Melson; her parents, King and Pearl Brown; three brothers, Vivan Brown, Hoyt Brown, and Elton Dwain Brown; and her twin sister, Shirley Tankersley.
Shelby is survived by one daughter, Carla Stewart and husband Steve of Ozone; one son, Stephen Melson and wife Amy of Ozone; seven grandchildren, Jordan Pledger and husband Bailey, Jocelyn Cornwell and husband Rush, Stephanie Melson, Kristyn Brown, Caleb Melson, Hayden Brown, and Rylan Melson; one brother, Dallas ''Bug'' Brown, of Kansas City, Kansas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, November 26, 2021, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home chapel in Clarksville. A graveside will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Russell Cemetery in Ozone officiated by Bro. Mike Sawyer. Bearers will be David Brown, Dennis Brown, Bailey Pledger, Ricky Melson, David Melson, Johnny Carlton, Wes Kendrik, Jerry Atkins, Matt Atkins, and Caleb Melson.
