Freda Jo Givens, age 69, of Marion, AR went home to be with our Lord on October 24, 2021. She was born in Memphis, TN on February 22, 1952 to parents John Marvin Blankenship and Emma Lucille Glover-Blankenship.
Freda graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1970 where she went on to devote most of her life to working with special needs children. Later in life, she dedicated herself to a profession in day care and then after retired in 2014.
Freda, is survived by husband, Mark Emmitt Givens; sister, June (and John) Leatherwood of Bartlett, TN; children, Jason Waddell, Amy (and Tony) True, Brian (and Jamie) Waddell, Zackery Givens, Emma Givens, and John Matthias Givens. Grandchildren, Jai Waddell, Gabe Waddell, Katelyn Waddell, Katie Branson, Link Waddell, and Leo Waddell; great-grandchild, Grayson Branson; along with numerous nieces and nephews, and extended family members.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Lucille Blankenship; brothers, Johnny and Melvin Blankenship; sister, Lois Ann Dickson.
Funeral service will be held Friday, October 29, 2021 at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in West Memphis, AR. Visitation for the public is from 12:00-1:00pm with the service to follow. Freda's final resting place will be at Crittenden Memorial Park in Marion, AR. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Freda's life. Family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Cancer Society or West Cancer Center in Memphis, TN.
I miss you Mimi. I will always miss you. I will always tell my grayson about you and remind him of you.

Another friend from way back is gone from us and will be missed by many. I wish to send prayers to those of you left behind to cherish her memories. Good memories from the days gone by in C'ville AR starting in the second grade through the start of the 7th. I will never forget.

I am saddened to learn of Freda's passing. She was a part of my life back in the 1960's when we were in high school. It was great to reconnect with her in the last few years. She was such a sweet, wonderful person. I am very fortunate to have known her. Rest In Peace, Freda.

I worked with Freda at Baldwin Elementary School and she soon became a good friend. She was so sweet and caring. Our prayers go out to to all the family.
