Maxine Womble

of Jacksonville, AR

February 26, 1929 - October 24, 2021

Maxine Womble, 92, of Sherwood, went to be with the Lord on October 24, 2021.

She was born February 26, 1929, to Alfred and Opal Goyne in Manning, Arkansas.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Homer Kelly Womble, her parents, six siblings, and sons-in-law, Gary Shaw, and Danny McGill.

Maxine and Homer were the founders of Small Fry Daycare.

She was known by ''Mimaw'' to generations of children through her years of childcare and daycare ownership. She was an avid reader and a talented gardener. She spent many years as a homemaker lovingly caring for her own children, then grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also spent many years in ministry as a pastor's wife and most recently was a member of Brockington Road Church of the Nazarene. Our family never lacked for generosity bestowed by her and was always covered by her prayers. Most notably, she leaves behind a legacy of love, love for her family, friends, and a deep love for God. She was a strong woman of faith and spent many hours a day in the word. We know today she is resting in the arms of Jesus and is reunited with her beloved husband.

She is survived by her four children, Barbara McArthur (D. L.), Doris McGill, Jeanette Shaw and Donald Womble, along with seven grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and her first great great-grandchild on the way.

Visitation will be Friday, October 29, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Roller-Owens Funeral Home, 5509 John F. Kennedy Blvd., North Little Rock. Funeral service will be Saturday, October 30, at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Rest Hills Memorial Park.

Mrs. Barbara & Mrs. Cassidy,

She was a great lady. My kids loved going to day care every morning, that was such a big help to a working mom. I know she will be missed.

Thank you Mrs. Barbara and Mrs. Cassidy for everything you do!

Prayers of comfort for all who knew and loved this sweet lady. What a privilege it was to have worked in her daycare over 25 years ago. May all of the wonderful memories she’s left behind carry everyone through the upcoming difficult days.
