Joseph ''J.L.'' ''Jake'' Lee Mooney Sr., 70, of Heth, AR, passed away Thursday, October 7, 2021. Joseph was born in Brickeys, AR, to Margie (Guin) and Earl Jessie Lee Mooney on June 21, 1951.
J.L. was a mechanic by trade and was one of the best around. In his downtime, you could find him hunting, fishing, farming, shooting pool and even watching his favorite show, Gunsmoke. He loved being outdoors and was always aggravating and poking fun at everyone ''It's a Mooney thing, you wouldn't understand''. He loved his food from chicken and dumplings to banana pudding and his favorite was some ice cream; ''says it made you sleep better at night''. By far, his biggest accomplishment was his family.
J.L. was preceded in death by his father, Earl Jessie Lee Mooney; brothers Donnie Mooney, Kenny Mooney and Robert Mooney; sister Cheryl Mooney.
J.L. is survived by his mother Margie Varner; his wife Judy, his children, Joseph ''Joey'' Lee Mooney (Ashley) of Magnolia, AR; Stefanie Moore (James) New Johnsonville, TN and Jennifer Mooney of West Memphis, AR; step children, Kevin Russell Brooks (Michelle) of Rising Sun, MD, Sharon Brooks Noble (Larry) of Brighton, TN, and Melissa Brooks Brewer (Mark) of Wewahitchka, FL; 18 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brother, James Mooney of Heth, AR ; sisters, Shelia Riley (Steve) of Marion, AR and Penny Morris (James) of Bartlett, TN; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family. He will be missed by many.
