Kathryn Alice Andersen, nee McConnell, age 94, of Harrison, died Friday, October 8, 2021, at Hillcrest Home in Harrison. She was born June 23, 1927, in Avoca, Iowa, the daughter of William Lee and Florida Ethel Mae McConnell, nee Davis. She was a faithful servant of the Lord, a patriotic American, a devoted farmer's wife and mother, and a retired nurse.

Kathryn was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Harrison and professed her faith in the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit by rites of Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist.

Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents; all eight of her siblings; and her husband, John E. Andersen. She is survived by her five children, Randi Kay Hill, nee Andersen (Jerry) of Baldwyn, Mississippi, Kristi Lou Kelsey, nee Andersen (John) of Casa Grande, Arizona, Robin John Andersen (Georgiann) of Minden, Iowa, Marti Lee Andersen of Brooklyn, New York, and Julie Ann Andersen (J.R. Few) of Yellville, Arkansas; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews and distant relatives.


The funeral was held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 14, 2021, at the First Lutheran Church, with Rev. William Zwick officiating. Visitation was an hour prior to the service at the First Lutheran Church. The committal was in Maplewood Cemetery.

Pallbearers were family members. The honorary pallbearer was Pastor Frank Zirbel, retired.
