Beverly Ann Smith Morton, age 72 of Marshall, Arkansas passed from this earthly home on Sunday, October 10th, 2021 at Ozark Health Nursing and Rehab in Clinton, Arkansas. She was born in Marshall, Arkansas on September 7th, 1949 to Thomas Matthew "T.M." Smith and Bennie Mae Stone Smith. She was the oldest of three daughters. She was a loving mother, sister, aunt and Nana and a friend to all that knew her.
Beverly was a hard worker and served her community in several jobs during her lifetime. She served as a dental assistant to Dr. Weaver in Marshall before she graduated from Imogene Beauty School in Harrison in June 1974. She worked as a beautician for over 40 years during which she owned and operated Kurly Top Beauty Shop for the majority of those years. Beverly was elected Marshall City Recorder and Treasurer in 1992 and served 20 years until her retirement in 2012. She worked under five different mayors during her career and actually served as interim mayor for a period of time when one of them resigned during his term.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her two sisters Judy (Aubrey) Byerly and Cindy (Darrell) Horton; three daughters Kim (Farrell) Jackson, Kristie (Randall) Ragland and Kara (Thomas) Harrill; eight grandchildren, Keshia (Matt) Hinchey, Anna Ragland, Ashley (Madison) Temples, Jackson Ragland, Kaylee and Kynlee Richardson, Kyler Mendenhall, and Kasen Harrill; four great grandchildren, Jenah and Jantzen Hinchey, Tristan Perrigo and Westan Cooper; two nephews John (Amanda) Steen and Thomas Horton; two great nephews Austin and Jackson Horton and three great nieces Scarlett Horton, Isabella Jones and Sophia Steen as well as a host of cousins she loved dearly.
Funeral services for Beverly will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 13th, 2021 at Roller-Coffman Chapel in Marshall, Arkansas with Bro. Bruce Smithson officiating. Visitation will be 6:00 till 8:00 PM Tuesday, October 12th, 2021 in the Chapel. Burial will be in Dongola Cemetery near Marshall, Arkansas. Bearers will be John Steen, Thomas Horton, Kevin Elliott, Matt Hinchey, Jimmie Blair and Tyler Perrigo.
