In loving memory of our mother and grandmother, Shirley Jennings. She was born October 9, 1934, and passed September 11, 2021.
Shirley was a very strong, loving, passionate mother and grandmother. She is preceded in death by her husband Lamar Jennings; siblings, Faye, Gaye, and Sonny; and her parents. She is survived by her brother Doc (Marsha) Carrington; children, Denise Jones, David (Debra) Jennings, Debra (Robert) Smith; 6 grandchildren; Amber Pope, Ashley Gray, Cory Falcone, Jana (Derrick) Nicholas, Jace Jennings, Anna Ashcraft; and 9 great- grandchildren.
Shirley was born in Strayhorn, Mississippi, and grew up in Marion, Arkansas. In high school she was a cheerleader, this being where she was tackled by her future husband, football player, Lamar Jennings. Shirley and Lamar married out of high school and lived a very happy and successful life. She will always be remembered as a strong, loving, courageous woman, who will never be forgotten. A funeral service will be at the Roller-Alcoa Chapel at 2 P.M., Tuesday, September 14, 2021. Interment will be in Pinecrest Memorial Park following the service.
She was the closest thing I had to a grandma and she was the best person I'm going to miss her so so much
Shirley was such a wonderful woman. She was a very good friend to our family when I was growing up and even after we move to Florida. She was a good wife and mother and she will truly be missed.
I have fond memories of Shirley. She was always so friendly and loving. Shirley, Lamar, Betty, and Mom are in heaven laughing and having a great time.

The Jennings were like a second family to me (Jack) growing up. Ms. Shirley always understood what "trouble" David and I would find ourselves in and would take our sides (somewhat) running interference between us and Lamar until even he would cave. What a wonderful lady. Proud of her family and friends, always willing to give or lend a hand. Thank you for bearing with and helping to raise me. I have tried and will strive to continue to live the life we all know you would want us to live. Love you and will miss you, but you will live with us forever.
Mawmaw Jennings left a mark on my heart forever ! She was such a loving classy lady. Heaven gained a beautiful Angel !
We are so sorry for your loss, sending love to you all.
I am sorry to hear of Shirley's passing. I know that she and Lamar are now together and enjoying their new home. They were great friends. I always enjoyed the times we got to visit at church and Shirley's hugs each Sunday morning.
