of Ravenden, AR
July 6, 1943 - September 7, 2021
Charles Shelton Rains, 78, of Ravenden, Arkansas, passed away on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at Arkansas Methodist Medical Center, in Paragould, Arkansas. He was born July 6, 1943, in Konawa, Oklahoma, to David and Mattie Rains.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; son, Charles Russell ''Russ'' Rains; 3 brothers, and 2 sisters. Those left behind to cherish his memory are his loving wife, of 45 years, Judith Rains; 2 sons, Dale and David Rains; daughter, Jodie Rains; step daughter, Stefanie Dostal (Rene); 8 grandchildren: Natalie Evans (Clifford), Erica Zardo (Brian), Ales Dostal, Megan Rains, Paul S. Rains, Kaylee Rains, Leslie Rains, and Angelina Aguilera; 7 great grandchildren: Jackson, Zachary, Delilah, Blayne, Adrianna, Jedidiah, and Miah; and sister, Chris Leatherman (E. L.).
Charles was a Godly gentle soul, who was greatly loved by all. His kids and grandkids have all expressed their own personal memories of their dad and papa, all with such love and warmth about how their experiences with him was of quality time and how they enjoyed his ''talks.'' Although Charles was a non-confrontational man of very few words, at family get-togethers, Charles would become the life of the party, when the music came on, with his ''Jelly-man'' gyrations, which would have us all in stitches.
Our first moments of sorrow of his passing, have been replaced by the knowledge of knowing his passing from this life to be with his friend and beloved Savior, the Lord of Jesus Christ. We think of him being joined with his one departed son, Russ, his parents David and Mattie, his brothers and sisters, other family members, as well as life long friends. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him, but we are all left with so many warm and loving memories of a husband, father, grandfather, family man, and friend, with no known enemies. Rest in peace, until we are all reunited again, in the Kingdom of our Heavenly Father.
The immediate family will receive family and friends for visitation at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home, 201 N Pine Street, West Memphis, Arkansas, on Saturday, September 11, 2021, 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, with US Army Military Honors presentation to immediately follow.
In lieu of flowers the family requests for memorial donations to be made to Running Strong for American Indian Youth (indianyouth.org/donate).
I am so sorry to hear about Charles. My prayers for the family.

Charlie has always been so special
to me. His earnest caring heart and gentle spirit have always been a model of how to be a real man. His strong Christ centered spirit has been so inspirational. I’ve always loved him from 45 years ago when he and my big sister Judy fell in love. Some of the most wonderful times of my life were spent in their warm, loving home.
I will miss him so much. My heart is broken over his leaving us. Comfort is only found in knowing he is home with Christ and our family members who have gone before.
Deepest sympathy to my big sis Judy, and the rest of our family, forever united through their marriage.
Love you Charlie.
May God wrap his arms around your family during this time.
Sending love and prayers.
