Shirley Ann Dowell Cuzzort of Batesville passed away on August 24, 2021 at her beloved home, surrounded by her family. Shirley was born on January 19, 1942 to Nettie Marie Brooks and Earl Dennison Dowell in Batesville, Arkansas.
After graduating high school in 1959, she attended beauty school and styled hair for nearly 60 years. She loved cutting hair so much, she even had a beauty shop in her own home. Her grandkids loved to play in her beauty shop, spin in her stylist chair, and wash their hair in her sink. Shirley was married to the love of her life, Robert Cuzzort for 60 years. They both enjoyed sitting on their back porch together and watching the wildlife; including the birds, deer, and the family of foxes that came to visit nearly every day. She loved to cook, collect antiques, re-finish furniture, travel, fish, and play bunco with her friends. Above all, Shirley enjoyed laughing and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Earl Wayne Dowell. She is survived by her husband, Robert; daughters Sabrina Reagan (Michael) of Germantown, TN and Kristen Taylor of Batesville, AR; son, John Cuzzort (Mamie) of Batesville, AR; brother, Larry Brown (Gail) of Greenwood, AR; grandchildren, Chaney Allen Staggs (Rusty) of Spanish Fort, AL, Jackson Allen of Greenwood, AR, Morgan Taylor Etheridge (Ryan) of Batesville, AR, Mollie Taylor of Batesville, AR, London Cuzzort of Batesville, AR, and Ayden Cuzzort of Batesville, AR.
Pallbearers are Bob Davis, Butch Jackson, Danny Mullins, V.L. Taylor, Norman Martin, and Delbert Platt. Honorary pallbearers are James Reeves, Loren Parsley, Gary Leonard, and Jim Huff.
Funeral services will be Friday, August 27, 2021 at Ruddell Hill Baptist Church at 2:00pm with Bob Dailey and Tyler Bramlett officiating under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
At the family's request, masks are required to enter the church.

I first met Shirley in the Westside Seventh Grade after our family moved to Batesville and we were friends and classmates through high school. After graduation I seldom got to visit with Shirley unless it was at a graduating class function. Our graduating class had a meeting of a small group at Josies just a few months ago and I am so glad that Robert and Shirley were present and I got to visit with them after the meeting.

I loved Shirley. We had such fun together at Olde Towne Mall. We’d work our booths then we would sit around the table and laugh and carry on with Kyla. She was a beautiful woman inside and out. Our prayers and love to her family.

I am so sorry for your loss. I have several memories of playing in that salon and getting my hair done there as a child. It was a quick walk to your house when I lived up the road with Alice Ruth.
