Vitha Stroud Ott

of Mountain View, AR

February 7, 1923 - August 16, 2021

Vitha Stroud Ott, 98, of Mountain View died Monday, August 16, 2021 at the Stone County Medical Center. She was born February 7, 1923 in the family home on Coon Creek, Stone County, Arkansas to Charlie and Lillie Stroud. As the eldest girl of seven siblings, her childhood was filled with cooking and caring for each of them. Later in life, her path continued caring for people in the nursing home and cooking at the hospital. After retirement, she stayed true to her roots, and was a caretaker for many. The number of people who had a warm meal from her hands is greater than we all could imagine. She was one of the founders of the Dugan Pentecostal Church and devoted her life to following Jesus. She was a loving, caring mother, grandmother, and friend. She dearly loved each and everyone.

Vitha was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Lillie Stroud; two brothers, Willie Stroud and Raymond Stroud; two sisters, Nettie Stroud and Nellie Watkins, and great-grandson-in-law, Gary Branscum.

Vitha is survived by two daughters, Betty Turner (Herman) and Etta Turner (Wayne) both of Mountain View, Arkansas; one sister, Lorene Allen of Locust Grove, Arkansas; one brother, Charles Stroud (Charlotte) of Steprock, Arkansas; three grandchildren, Lonnie Turner (Helen) of Mountain View, Arkansas, Wanda Bailey (Gerald) of Greers Ferry, Arkansas, and Rickey Turner of Mountain View, Arkansas; five great-grandchildren, Brittney Choat (Michael) of Sherwood, Arkansas, Matthew Turner (Ingrid) of Bella Vista, Arkansas; Rachael Turner (Travis) of Dallas, Texas, Kadie Branscum, and Bethaney Turner both of Mountain View, Arkansas; eight great-great grandchildren, Lexi Branscum, Skylar Branscum, Remi Hanson, Makinley Branscum, Mila Turner, Turner Choat, Leo Turner, and Roux Turner; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Visitation is Thursday, August 19, 2021 at Roller Crouch Chapel from 6:00-8:00 PM. A graveside service will take place at Mt. Joy Cemetery on Friday, August 20, 2021 at 2:00 PM with her daughter Etta Turner and family officiating.

Roller Crouch Funeral Home in Mountain View, Arkansas is in charge of the arrangements.

The family requires anyone attending the visitation must wear a mask.

Etta and Betty: your Mom was such a special person. My family thought so much of her. She lived her life as we all should by staying close to our Lord Jesus Christ. Praying for you as you close another chapter of your lives.

Vitha, I love you and already miss our near-daily chats on the phone and all the ways you’ve loved me and cared about the details of my life over the years. You and my dad made each other’s lives better by walking along together as quiet companions for years, sharing the journey toward the end of your lives. Blessing upon blessing you were to each other and to me and the rest of my family. Thank you for your life and your heart of wisdom and love.
