of West Helena, AR
April 7, 1954 - August 14, 2021
Mary Arnold, age 67, of West Helena, Arkansas passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, August 14, 2021. Mary was born on April 7, 1954 in Twist, Arkansas to the late Paul and Mary Arnold. She was one of seven children. She was a member of Fourth Street Baptist Church and she worked in the office at Doughboy Pool Manufacturer for numerous years.
Mary was known for her love of practical jokes (unless the joke was on her), her generous nature and her quick temper. She loved her church family and her work family but above all she loved her own family, especially her grandchildren, who could do no wrong in her eyes. She loved to watch "Judge Judy" and "The Voice" and she had no problem telling her son that he needed to go home so she could watch her shows. Mary liked playing games also, particularly Yahtzee, Uno and Rook. There were many accusations over the years that Mary may have cheated when playing games, all of which she denied fiercely. Mary also loved the occasional margarita, but don't tell Brother Lance.
Mary was sassy, fiery, funny, selfless and had a personality far bigger than her short stature would suggest. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Anna Arnold of West Helena; son, Chad Alsup (Cristy) of Lexa; stepdaughters, Becky Bailey (Don) of Holcomb, Mississippi and Leigh Hodges (Earl) of Tutweiler, Mississippi; grandchildren, Kayla Rogers (Dayton), Wesley Arnold, Cody Beck, Abby Alsup and Kyleigh Petty; great-granddaughter, Saylor Grace Rogers; her mother-in-law, Merlene Arnold of West Helena; three brothers, James Arnold (Linda) of West Helena, Paul Arnold (Beverly) of Bella Vista and Bobby Arnold (Betsy) of Benton; and many, many other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glenn Arnold; and three sisters, Ernestine Davis, Shirley Watson and Margaret Kissick.
A funeral service for Mary Arnold will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home. A visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park in West Helena. Brother Lance Madden will officiate.
Pallbearers are Mary's nephews: Gary Davis, Tommy Davis, Jimmy Woolbright, Anthony Arnold, Brian Arnold, Jason Arnold and Robert Arnold. Honorary pallbearers are her great-nephews, Hayden Arnold, Matthew Richards, Ryan Richards, Casey Arnold and Jackson Arnold and three of Mary's favorite people from Doughboy, Doug Hollowell, David Bartlett and Larry Denson.
The family asks that instead of sending a plant to die a horrible death at the hands of Mary's daughter-in-law to please make a donation in her memory to the charity of your choice or to Fourth Street Baptist Church in West Helena.
Services will be directed by Roller-Citizens Funeral Home, West Helena, (870) 572-2571.
