Margie Pauline Pangle Duffy

of Yellville, AR

March 6, 1925 - August 11, 2021

Margie Pauline Pangle Duffy, of Yellville, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday August 11, 2021, at Hospice House, in Mt. Home, Arkansas..

Margie was born on March 6, 1925, in Rucker, Comanche County, Texas, to the late Jobie Napoleon Pangle and Nancy ''Neacy'' Elizabeth Burleson Pangle. She is the granddaughter of the late Isaac Wesley Pangle and wife Lovie Texana Harper Pangle, and John Roland Burleson and wife Margaret Arrena ''Maggie'' Wolf Burleson all of Marion County.

Margie was a member of Cedar Grove Methodist Church in the Cedar Grove area that was founded by her great grandfather Joseph Burleson in the late 1840s when the church was originally named Shiloh and members met in their homes. In 1850 Shiloh Church was renamed Cedar Grove Church and a log church was built on the present site of the church.

Margie married Ray Gale Duffy July 15, 1943 at Mountain Home, Arkansas. The first year of their marriage was spent at George Army Air Base at Victorville, California. Margie's brother Jean and his wife that lived in El Centro, California came every other weekend to visit. Margie loved telling about how the two couples hiked in the mountains, swam in the ocean, and all the wonderful places they visited.
As a child she always wanted to play the piano, so when she was 52 years old, she took lessons and was the church pianist for several years. Margie loved her family, church family, and community deeply. Margie was a quilter, and she and Ray loved to garden together. She was also a lifelong lover of genealogical research. She did extensive research about her family over the years the hard way, long ago before internet was available. She also had a wonderful memory of all the old pioneer family's genealogy in Marion County.

Margie is the only daughter of Jobie and Neacy and the last surviving child of Jobie and Neacy Pangle. She adored each of her seven brothers, Delmas, Vaughn, Jean, Dwane, Kermit, Bill, and Curtis, and never stopped talking about them. She was an avid storyteller, and each story was filled with interesting, detailed facts, and always a dash of humor. Margie loved to tell the story of how her Burleson grandparents moved from Georges Creek to Eastland, Texas. John Roland and wife Maggie moved with eight of their children only leaving Margie's mother Neacy in Marion County. Neacy was the oldest of their children and was married at the time and didn't move with her parents. However in 1920 Margie's mother, Neacy, caught the local train at Turkey store in the Georges Creek area with her five little boys and headed to Eastland County Texas to visit her parents. A short time later, her husband, Jobie, showed up unexpectedly to have a visit too. Jobie and Neacy had a long visit of 16 years before coming back to Arkansas in 1936 to live. Margie was 11 years old when she first saw Arkansas, and she said it looked just like it had been described to her by her family.

Margie was loved by everyone that met her, and she always enjoyed family and friends dropping by to visit at any time. The last few years of her life she loved her fur babies, Molly and Freckles. She overfed them all the time, but, oh how they loved and watched over her. Margie was always very proud to say she was kin to over half of Marion County. Margie was also proud to call Dr. L.A. Kelley and wife Lou Annis Wingate Kelley of Yellville her dear sweet friends. Margie worked for Dr. Kelley in his medical practice in Yellville and Bull Shoals for over 30 years and always said she had the best job and boss in this world. Margie will always be remembered as a wonderful loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend.

Margie is survived by two sons: Roger Gale Duffy and wife, Janice, of Yellville; David Lynn Duffy and special friend, Gwen Stice, of Yellville; daughter, Patricia Ann Duffy Clinkingbeard and husband, Paul, of Mountain Home; and Brenda Duffy Owen, daughter in law. Grandchildren: Jody Clinkingbeard and wife, Amy, of Jordan; James Clinkingbeard of Mountain Home; Pauline Duffy Miller and husband, Adam, of Harrison; Stanley Duffy of St. Petersburg, Florida; Shelley Allen and husband, Tony, of Summit; Kevin Duffy and wife, Kary, of Yellville; and Jason Duffy and wife, Misty, of Yellville.
