Wayne Ray Castleberry (Doc), age 88, of Harrison, passed away Monday, August 9, 2021, at his home, surrounded by his children. He was born October 16, 1932, at Bass, Arkansas, the son of Athel and Oma (Cook) Castleberry. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Alice Corene (Edwards) Castleberry, his parents, and his two brothers, Cortez Castleberry and Gary Castleberry.
The funeral service was Saturday, August 14, 2021, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home, with Bill Arnold officiating. Visitation was one hour prior to the funeral service.
Interment was in Maple Leaf Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Neil Parks, Derek Parks, Adam Harrell, Grafton Harrell, Jonathan Castleberry, and Todd Taylor. Honorary pallbearers were grandsons-in-law, his nephews, and Doc's driving buddies.
Wayne married Corene Edwards on September 30, 1951, and shortly after they married they moved to California where he was employed with International Harvester for ten years. In 1964 they moved back to Arkansas where he was a member of Ridgeway Church of Christ. He worked for Edwards Feed/ Harrison Farm Center/Tindle Mills for thirty years.
Wayne loved fishing, enjoying his children and grandchildren, transporting vehicles with his buddies, and working on small engines for family and friends. He also enjoyed building dollhouses for his granddaughters, working puzzles, and watching the Andy Griffith Show.
Wayne is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley Ann and David Parks of Harrison and Belinda and Monty Harrell of Cabot, Arkansas; his son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Becky Castleberry, of Dillon, Colorado; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Travis and Karen Castleberry of Hayward, California and Ronnie and Janice Castleberry of Harrison; nine grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a host of family and friends.
