Edward Rogers ''ER'' James, 91, of Mountain View, Arkansas, died Saturday, July 31, 2021, at Conway Regional Medical Center in Conway, Arkansas. Rogers was born February 25, 1930, in Memphis, Tennessee to Jesse Drew and Myra Dukes James.

Rogers joined the Navy in 1947, immediately after graduating from high school. He was trained in electronics and radio teletype while stationed in California and then worked in the Naval Communication Center in Washington, D.C. After being discharged in 1950, he began a 27-year career with Memphis Light, Gas and Water in the electrical division. He enjoyed climbing poles in the early days, and later became a customer serviceman. After his retirement from MLG&W in 1977, he moved to Mountain View, where he started his own business as a master electrician and contractor. Rogers was a member of First United Methodist Church in Mountain View. He was also a member of the Blue Mountain Masonic Lodge No. 202, since 1978, serving as Master several times. As a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, he served multiple times as Worthy Patron. Rogers also served on the Stone County Quorum Court as a Justice of the Peace for many years. Rogers was an avid football fan, and enjoyed travelling with friends and family to watch his beloved Razorbacks.

Rogers was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Sarah L. James; brothers, J. D. James and Robert James; sisters, Elizabeth Parkman, Monez Loftiss, Theresa Terry, Lady Esther Hazel, Wilma Wright, and Jeanette James.

Rogers is survived by his three daughters, Donna James of Russellville, Arkansas, Theresa Eddy and husband, David, of Russellville, Arkansas, and Jeanie Gosselin and husband Gary of Rockwall, Texas; five grandchildren, Erin Darwin (Jason), Tyler Gosselin (Monica), Doug Eddy (Mary Kathryn), Keith Eddy (Colleen), and Paul Eddy (Abbey); eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Howard James and Raymond James; two sisters, Carolyn Rogers and Bonnie Boling, and a host of extended family and friends.

Roger was an amazing, smart, kind, Christian man. He and Sarah were some of my parents' first friends in the Mountain View area.
I will always remember him fondly. Condolences to his family. Sending prayers.

I just saw where one of my favorite people has passed away. E R was such a nice man and friend to so many. When he wired our house, we got to visit every day and talked about that wiring for years! My sincere sympathy to the family in your loss. I will always remember him fondly.

Mr James was truly a friend to many people here in MV he was always so friendly. Our family enjoyed the friendship from he and Sarah over the many years they were living here.He will truly be missed as she is too.
