We lived as close neighbors with Jay and Nina in the mid 80s. Jay had a generous heart and fun loving personality. He welcomed us into their lives and we spent may wonderful hours together. He was a huge blessing to our family.

Poem Mrs Mary requested about Jay.
When Tomorrow Starts without me... When tomorrow starts without me, please try to understand, that an angel came and called my name, and took me by the hand; the angel said my place was ready, in heaven far above, and that i’d have to leave behind all those I dearly love. But when I walked through Heaven’s Gates, I felt so much at home, for God looked down, smiled at me, And told me “Welcome Home.†So when tomorrow starts without me, Don’t think we’re far apart, for every time you think of me, Iâ€m right there in your heart
Jay and Nina were dear friends for many years. Jay was a good, sweet man, always upbeat and friendly, and an excellent cook and hostess. He had a great sense of humor, too. I can still hear that laugh of his. My sincere condolences to Mary and family.
Hello Miss Mary this is Bessie from Kroger sorry for your loss we will truly mr. J
Jay was my "Big Brother" for 58 years, starting when he married my sister Nina when I was 12. His Dad cut my hair at his shop downtown and I still remember Memaw. He always treated my parents well, even though my Dad was often not very nice to him. I have been gone from LR since 1976, but I would always go see Nina and Jay when I got back into town, and usually stay with them. I have seen him only a few times since Nina passed in 2004, but he will be sorely missed.

Mary, we are so sorry for your loss. I enjoyed our banter when Jay would come by my door from the coffee shop before service at church. We will be praying for you and your family in the days ahead.
Even though I moved away from Little Rock area in 1991, Jay has still remain a very good friend. We were able to visit on a trip to Little Rock a few years ago. I will always have a remembrance of Jay with the photo he made of me and my deceased wife some years ago in his front yard. He got us to pose in a certain way and then without knowing gave a poster size photo to us on Christmas that appeared to show the Sun resting in the palm of her hand. He was a good friend and will be greatly missed.
Part of the SPIRIT group for many
moons, including howling at them.
Will miss the fine food and beverage
we enjoyed and your boat running the river.
So many awesome memories of Jay. We always laughed and had many adventures. You will be missed buddy!

A friend for over 30 years. A funny guy, fishing buddy and just great man to know. He never knew a stranger no matter the age. I already miss him.
Mary,
So sorry for your loss. Actually, this is a loss to everyone who knew Jay. I am glad to say he was my cousin. You and Jay were so good to help and visit my mother in her last years. Every time I talked with Jay, I always learned more family history. I hate that knowledge is now gone and will always regret not learning more from him. He will be greatly missed.
You are in our prayers.
Steve Roberts and family.â€
Jay will be missed. But he leaves so many fond memories. He came to family gatherings with food in one hand and his Jay libations ice chest in the other. He always fell asleep In the recliner after his belly was full. He was a man on a mission with his camera at every special event.
