Shana Lyn Durham 47, passed away surrounded by her family and friends on July 24, 2021. She is now in the arms of her loving mother, who preceded her in death, Josephine. Shana leaves behind her son A.J. of Clay Center, Kansas; Father Harvey (Debby) of Maumelle; Brother Phillip (Tracie) of North Little Rock; Nieces Abbie, Aubrie; and Nephew Charlie as well as an extended list of Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins. She also leaves behind a cherished network of close friends from childhood Shawn, Sandy, Christy, and Debra.
From the day she was born, Shana defied the odds. Due to her heart condition, she grew up in and out of doctors' offices and hospitals. Her biggest advocate, and Chief Nagging Officer (CNO) was her mother Jo. Jo used her skill as a nurse to ensure the quality of care that Shana deserved. Her father Harvey, gave unwavering support and strength to her. His was always committed to being by her side for doctors' visits and hospitals stays and making sure she was taken care of.
Her son, A.J., was the light of her life and her greatest joy. Shana would always share pictures and updates about A.J. and took every opportunity to spend time with him. She loved being his biggest cheerleader in all of his sports and academic endeavors. He was the center of her universe and she was so proud to be his mother.
Shana graduated with a bachelor's degree from UCA in Interior Design. She loved designing and decorating and was always willing to help anyone with her expertise. She loved working in the industry over the years.
In 2015 Shana was highlighted by the American Heart Association as a survivor to give hope to others who are living with her condition. She was always an inspiration to others on the CHD journey. She defied all of the odds and lived a long and full life.
Shana loved going to the beach, drinking Diet Coke, watching funny movies and spending time with her many childhood and college friends. She was quick with a laugh and found humor in almost every situation. She loved to shop (just like her mother) and even went to the Mall of America with her cousins Angela and LeighAnn on a grand cousin adventure. She enjoyed cooking meals and baking Christmas cookies, especially pizzelle's with her nieces, Abbie and Aubrie. Her favorite holiday was Thanksgiving. She loved spending time with her family over a big meal. Her laughter and wit will be missed by her family and those who loved her.
The family asks that any memorial donations be made to the Arkansas Children's Foundation.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 pm, Tuesday, July 27, 2021, at Roller Chenal Funeral Home with services following in the chapel, Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at 10 am.
Dog gone...lost track of you when I joined the military in 1991. I retired in 2016 and didn’t know you were still close. As was said in the obituary, you always had a laugh and was really contagious. I remember the days on Conniewood Lane.
RIP Shana, you were a jewel in the life of this fella.

Shana was surely a best friend to me since our adolescent years. It isn't too many friendships that last a lifetime. We always picked right up at each meeting (and in between seeing each other), with love, conversation, and mutual understanding. She was a confidant, an encouragement, a partner in laughter, and a resident expert when I had questions about what matched what in any room. ;-) She was a fellow believer in Jesus, and because of that, will remain a beloved and healthy soul for forever. I'll sure miss her, and I am praying for you, Harvey, and Phillip, and AJ (Your momma talked about you so much! She sure loved you!), and the rest.
Harvey and Family, Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.
I have so many wonderful memories from our childhood and beyond. Your soul is genuine and your heart was huge! So many are mourning your passing right now girl. But I know you’re with your momma right now! My heart goes out to your dad and AJ…as well as your close friends and family. Rest In Peace finally.
Harvey and Debby so very sorry and prayers for your family. I know she s happy , well, and whole with Jesus and sweet Jo but that doesn’t keep you from suffering the loss. I think of you all often and the good times we all had together. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Love to you all, Janet.
Oh Harvey, My heart breaks for you and your family. Praise God for his peace and comfort that passes all understanding!
Love you, my friend
Our condolences to family and loved ones. Prayers for peace
My deepest sympathies go out to AJ and family. I worked with Shana at Norman Company. Please know you all are in my thoughts and prayers.
I never met Shana in person but we kept in touch through Facebook. She reached out to me after a mutual friend of hers and my moms told her about my daughter being a heart patient. We shared many stories about their experiences and thought it was so neat that my daughter & get shared the same amazing Dr. at one point, Dr. Morrow. She was a light in my life and I barely knew her so for those of you who did, I can only imagine what a light she was to be around! I can tell her son, A.J., was the light of her life so my heart truly goes out to him. I am so glad she took the time to share her story with me and that she supported us, even if it was online. You are all in my prayers! ðŸ¤
Our deepest condolences to the Durham family and dear friends.
Sweetie you will be missed but never forgotten.
Shana and I shared many wonderful moments over the last 10 years. We had similar heart conditions, are on the same meds and even seen by the same doctors. We understood each other in a way that very few others could. I’m going to miss the sleep overs and all night chats. I love you Shana!
