Charles Gene Allen

of Summit, AR

July 31, 1942 - July 17, 2021

Charles Gene Allen passed to his heavenly home on July 17, 2021 in Summit, Arkansas at the age of 78.

He was born July 31, 1942 in Yellville, Arkansas, the son of Eugene G. and Ivon D. (Spangler) Allen. He was a member of the Yellville Summit class of 1960. He married the former Linda M. Haynie on December 2, 1963.

A lifelong resident of Marion County, Charles served in the Army Reserves. Charles professed his faith to Christ and as a founding member of the Church on the Rock, served as Elder and Sunday school teacher, leading many to Christ. As a business man, Charles was owner of the original Hilltop restaurant in Yellville starting in 1964 and operated it for 8 years. He then purchased Allen's Grocery Store from his parents, which is still in operation, his family and devoted staff handling daily business operations. In 1986 he added rental properties to his enterprises and in 1986 opened Sunshine Auto. He always had a passion for planes and enjoyed flying in his free time. Grandchildren's ballgames and his granddaughters' dance recitals were great enjoyment for Charles.

Surviving to cherish his memory is his wife of 57 years, Linda M. Allen; son Tony (Shelly) Allen of Summit, Arkansas; grandchildren: Isaac (Makala) Allen, Sawyer (Alexis) Allen, Nick Allen and Elli Allen; great-grandsons: Tucker and Fisher Allen.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Gina E. Allen and his grandson Samuel Beau Allen.

Memorials may be directed to the Yellville Area Food Closet.

Visitation for Mr. Allen will be 2:00 6:00 pm Friday July 23, 2021 at Roller-Burns Funeral Home Chapel in Yellville.

Funeral Services will be 5:00 pm Saturday July 24, 2021 at Church on the Rock in Yellville with Bro. Kevin Duffy officiating.

A Private interment will be held at Layton Cemetery.

The Yellville-Summit Class of 1960 will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.

The Allen Family and Roller-Burns Funeral request that masks be worn during services.

Linda, Tony, and family, you are in my thoughts. Charles was such a good man. I remember how Mama (Nora Ann Long) teased him about driving in his sportscar convertible. He would grab her and hug her. We will all miss Charles sense of humor, that wave whenever he seen us. God bless all of you.
