It was with sorrow to hear at first my father has a stroke and then his passing away only a few days later. My father was a good man, caring, thoughtful, generous, and kind to others. I never remember him taking time to speak poorly of others. He was a staunch Republican but had friends who were Democrats. I think this speaks to his level of maturity in that while he may disagree with a particular political viewpoint he would not let that define the character of the person. He moved to Mountain View, Arkansas to spend time doing something he loved: playing blue grass music. He was very intelligent. I remember years ago he turned a vacuum cleaner into a weed eater. He had a very analytical mind, loving to problem solve and work on puzzles. He was very intelligent and his mind was very sharp up until the end. At one point in his career he was a TV repairman as a side job. I never remember him being out of work. At one point he was laid off from his refinery job and he immediately found work as a carpenter. He would tell me, "If you don't have a job you need to be looking for one." My father loved the United States of America and was very interested in politics. He was a real patriot. I often would call him and we would speak for hours about political events and ideas. He was a great provider for our family. He bought me my first car (1962 Ford Falcon). I never remember not having my needs met. Goodbye Dad. We love you and miss you.

My grandfather was a loving, intelligent and creative person. Each time we came to visit he was immersed in a puzzle. He liked playing the dulcimer which we had the pleasure of listening to as a family. Our happy memories of my grandfather will never be forgotten. Thank you everyone for your kind words at this time. Sincerely, his granddaughter Catarina E. Clarkson

Thank you everyone for your kind words. My grandfather Calvin was a good man and a good grandfather who always took interest in my schooling, my work as a teacher and our family here in Texas. When he could he would write a letter and reach out every holiday season. I used to love the pears he would send and the stories of his travels. He will be missed. With love, your granddaughter, Helen Maria Williams
