Donna Raye Boyd Sugg, 85, died July 3, 2021, with her family by her side in Harrison, Arkansas.
A graveside service was held Thursday, July 8, 2021, at Maple Leaf Cemetery in Harrison, officiated by Pastor Shannon O'Dell, followed by a luncheon and visitation at Brand New Church.
She was born May 13, 1936, in Wesley, Arkansas to Sarah Lucinda (Oval) Neal and Ewell Everett Boyd.
Donna graduated from Huntsville High School. She married James Carroll Sugg in 1955 while he was serving in the U.S. Air Force. Their first home was in Shreveport, Louisiana near Barksdale Air Force Base. They moved to Green Forest where they owned and operated a grocery store. During the early 1970s, Donna was appointed by Congressman John Paul Hammerschmidt as the first female to serve on the Farm Credit Administration's Board.
After selling the farm, the family moved to Harrison, Arkansas where Carroll was a realtor and investor. Throughout her life, Donna was a homemaker and tireless partner alongside Carroll serving as helpmate and wise counsel to all his endeavors.
Donna was a giant of Christian Faith with steadfast loyalty and unmatched devotion to her family.
She was known for her graceful spirit and listening ear. She had an incredible creative talent demonstrated through her paintings, piano, gardening, and culinary pursuits.
Mrs. Sugg is survived by her two children, Ewell Brent Sugg and Melinda Carol (husband Greg) Moss, 4 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a host of other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Carroll Sugg.
