Sue A. Mathison, age 85 of St. Joe, Arkansas passed from this life on Saturday, July 3rd, 2021 at her home. She was born in Dongola, Arkansas on April 29th, 1936 to Glen Blair and Hazel Smith Blair.
Sue was a retired employee of the Marshall School District, but her greatest joy was being a homemaker and taking care of her family. She professed faith in Christ at an early age, and she followed the Lord in baptism. Sue attended the Marshall United Methodist Church as long as her health allowed. She was united in marriage to Martin Mathison of Omaha, Arkansas on July 14th, 1956 in Western Grove, Arkansas. She and Martin moved to the Kansas City area and with the exception of two years that Martin served in the US Army, they lived and raised their two daughters there. She and Martin opened their home to family and friends in the Marshall area who came to Kansas City to work. Sue was an excellent cook and loved feeding her family and friends. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and a loyal friend. Sue will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Sue is preceded in death by her husband, Martin Mathison who passed away in 2002; her parents, Glen and Hazel Blair; and an infant sister.
Survivors include her daughters, Diane Passmore and Vickie Fountain (James); her brothers, Joe Blair (Wilma), Bob Blair (Debbie) and Bill Blair (Marilyn); grandsons, Andy Fountain (Blanca) and Eric Fountain (Tarra); nine great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Funeral services for Sue will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 6th, 2021 at Roller-Coffman Chapel in Marshall, Arkansas with Bro. Jackie Smithson officiating. Burial will follow in Marshall Memorial Gardens. Family will serve as bearers.
