Mark Preston Austin was born January 10, 1957 in Alton, Illinois to parents Eugene (Whitey) and Lois (Williams) Austin. He passed away on May 3, 2021 in Plano, Texas.

Mark graduated from West Covina High School in 1975. He attended North Arkansas Community College in Harrison Arkansas from 1976-1978 and earned his associate degree. In 1979 Mark joined the U.S. Army at which time he became a helicopter pilot and served proudly until 1984 with an honorable discharged at the rank of Warrant Officer. Mark then joined PHI where he was a commercial helicopter pilot for several years. Later he went back to earn his degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Arkansas.

He moved to Plano, Texas where he worked for Raytheon then moved to employment at Hewlett Packard; yet returned to finish his career at Raytheon.

He is survived by his sister Sandy Smith and her husband Brice of Yellville, Arkansas; nephew Shane Smith of Maryland and niece Meresa Smith of Salt Lake City and many loving friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside service with Military honors provided by The United States Army will be 10:00 am Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at Georges Creek Cemetery in Yellville, with Bro. Heith Hogan officiating
