Sherry Marie Barbee

of Paris, AR

June 29, 2021

Sherry Marie Barbee, age 73, departed for her home in heaven from her earthly home in Paris, Arkansas, on Tuesday, June 29, 2021.

Sherry, the youngest daughter and child of JD and Golda Marie Rackley, was born July 23, 1947, at the Old Paris Hospital.
She attended Paris Schools while growing up. She married Robert Barbee, her loving husband of over 59 years, on June 9, 1962, and together they built a big beautiful family that absolutely adores her. Sherry was legendary for her cooking skills with both her family and as a retired cook at Paris High School. She spent many years after her retirement working alongside her husband and with her family at Precision Rathole, Inc. in Ozark, Arkansas. She dearly loved her family and everyone else she knew or met, including the neighbor, co-worker or just someone she might cross paths with in town or church. She loved to shop and craft, but most importantly, she was an example of God's endless and unconditional love. Sherry was of Assembly of God faith and enjoyed going to both First Assembly of God Church in her hometown of Paris and Oak Grove Community Church in Cecil, Arkansas, with family. Sherry bravely fulfilled a long-time desire to be baptized on August 23, 2020, in the assisted entry pool at the Ozark Community Center in Ozark, after many years of longing to but being concerned about being immersed in water.

In addition to her husband, Sherry is survived by one son, Bobby Barbee and wife Ronda of Paris, three daughters, Sandra Morris and husband David of Cecil, Carolyn Barbee of Paris, and Carrie Owens and husband D'Wayne of Paris, twelve grandchildren, Logan Barbee, Kelsea (Morris) DeArmond and husband Garrison, Kelvin Morris and wife Abbie, Austin Bridges and wife Sarah, Andrew, Courtney and Caitlyn Bridges, and Mattheus, Kaleb, Cameron, Lynzee and Sydnee Owens, and six great-granddaughters, Alayna, Amelia and Alivia DeArmond, Ella-Sophia Valdez, Colleen Bridges and Dalila Owens. She is also survived by two brothers, Marvin Rackley of Charleston, Arkansas, and Donald Rackley of Ashdown, Arkansas, and many dedicated and loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Sherry was preceded in death by her sister, Lucille McCubbin McGrath, and brother, Earl Rackley.

Service will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, July 1, at First Assembly of God Church in Paris. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Paris. Relatives and friends are also welcome to gather for visitation from 6-8 PM on Wednesday, June 30, at Roller Funeral Home in Paris.

Pallbearers for Sherry will be her loving grandsons.

Honorary pallbearers will be her loving granddaughters.

I was saddened to learn of Sherry's passing. She truly was a wonderful person, and I always enjoyed visiting with her or Bob when we worked at the school district. And I have known each one of you kids as you went through high school. Now Bobby and Carrie are my neighbors. May God comfort y'all in this difficult time, and may you find peace in the wonderful memories you have in your hearts.
