OBITUARY FOR CATHRYN PAYNE GILLASPY CHAMBERS

Cathryn Payne Chambers, 77 years old, fell asleep in the arms of the Lord on June 13, 2021. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, wife, sister, and friend and loved greatly by all who knew her. She loved her husband, sisters, children and grandchildren greatly. She is survived by her husband, Bill Chambers; sisters, Jean Ann Moore and Linda Weyand; son, Jay Millsap and wife, Gaia So; daughter, Lee Ann Wunderler; and three grandchildren, Gustav Millsap, Mason Millsap, and Jamie Wunderler.

Cathryn worked for the Little Rock Fire Department and Little Rock School District until retirement. At the age of 50, Cathryn graduated from the University of Central Arkansas in Conway with a degree in English. She loved singing in the choir at church and remained active until surgery for esophageal cancer in late 2020. She loved dogs and was an accomplished artist in the Artist Guild at Mountain View, Arkansas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Gillaspy, parents, Henry and Maxine Payne, and younger brother and sister, Mac Alan Payne and Martha Chamblin. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made to the Humane Society.

Visitation will be Tuesday, June 15, 2021, from 12-1:00 PM at Roller Crouch Chapel, with funeral services following at 1:00 PM and officiated by Brother Paul Coy. Burial will be Wednesday, July 16, 2021, at 11:00 AM, in Forest Hills Cemetery, in Alexander, Arkansas.

I worked with Cathryn at LRSD and enjoyed her friendship so much. She was such a precious lady. My thoughts and prayers are with her family now and in the days to come.
