Barret Wayland Henderson of Fayetteville, AR was born May 15, 1981 and died suddenly May 23, 2021. He was saved and baptized at an early age, and now joins his dad in heaven.
Barret graduated from Mountain View High school and became an accomplished carpenter and truly a jack of all trades. He named his company Sunshine Construction because that was his daddy's pet name for him when he was growing up. He didn't cherish money, just the satisfaction of seeing a job well done.
He loved his family and friends fiercely. He said I love you without hesitation. He defended the weak and loved all things historical. He didn't like change and he never held grudges. Known for his banter, he never tired of teasing his family and friends.
Barret didn't talk about things negative. You never knew when he didn't feel well but if he knew you were sick he came running.
Having just celebrated his birthday and receiving many nice gifts, he still complained to his mama she didn't get him a white birthday cake with white buttercream frosting with blue roses........
As a good friend said "How could you not love this man? He was the best of you and Doug. He never met a stranger, and would give his last dollar to someone who needed it and always had more love to give than anyone".
In his private papers I found a 2020 questionnaire that asked what words would you like people to use to describe you? His answer "Loving, honest, good heart, trustworthy, solid, non -judgmental, smart, kind ". Son you got it right.
He blessed us with his presence for 40 years but he leaves behind a broken mom, Barbara Henderson of Leslie, and only sister April Henderson Mitchell and only brother-in-law Ira Mitchell of Fayetteville, AR and a big brother, Robert (Rob) Douglas Henderson, Jr of Rogers, AR. One biological nephew, Tallyn Blake Henderson of Springfield, MO, and Abey Lewis and Bray Lewis who also called him Uncle Barret. Also many other extended family and friends that will mourn his passing. Barret was preceded in death by his father, Robert Douglas Henderson (Doug).
A private ceremony and burial at Elberta Cemetery will be held. He will be buried beside his beloved daddy.

Barbara, your son is exceptional in so many ways. I never saw him cross or in any way not happy to see me. I was fortunate enough to see him twice on his last visit to Leslie and will trully miss him as I know so many will. I met this kid at a friends house one night,. he was talking to someone else and had said something in the delivery in the comedic timing of his statement just caught my attention. I laughed and I didn’t even know this guy and we immediately started talking and the banter began. I knew what kind of guy Barrett was right away. Several years later my best friend, my closest friend my brother.
You knocked on my door when your father passed, we talked and talked until we both broke down and just had to hug each other crying like babies. It doesn’t matter this man was my friend my true friend. One of a kind, wittiest guy I ever met. Will give you the shirt off his back or his last dollar with a smile. Barrett didn’t like people who didn’t know things. Things that he knew that seemed obvious to him, there wasn’t a job he couldn’t do or something he couldn’t fix, he was just gifted that way. This kid was my neighbor also for seven years, I saw him every day we talked every day high-fived every day, went to Razorback games together, he came over to watch football all the time he was the kind of friend you probably only have once in a lifetime. When I heard of his passing I immediately told myself no this is not true, this can’t be him, there’s been a terrible mistake and I waited for confirmation that it wasn’t really him. I still can’t believe my friend is gone. I love you buddy. I will look for you on the other side. I miss you man

To Barbara, and his siblings Rob and April know that we have been praying for all of you since we heard. Barret was a very special guy and I feel like we sorta grew up together! A piece of my heart is gone also. We have many awesome memories thru the last 40 years. We had sorta lost touch over the last 10 but not long ago I had seen him and we hugged and started chatting again like no time had passed. I have a lot of fun and really funny memories that bring a smile or laugh to my face. He was definitely a special guy to me!! From playing together in both of our earlier years to hanging out & talking in the last 10 plus, you would never know we had any time in between. He would cut up or say something silly (like always) and it was like no time had lapsed! Hoping Barret can give my husband up in Heaven a hug! So sorry to hear about his passing! I passed out in the dollar store one day and Barret comes up to me laying on the floor, without hesitation. He sits on the floor with me and held my head. He also bought me a drink and some candy to get my sugar back up and he stayed until the ambulance came. He was truly an amazing and selfless person. He will be missed.
