Jay Lynn Cheek, age 73, of Barton, Arkansas passed away Saturday, April 10, 2021 in Little Rock, Arkansas. Jay was born September 5, 1947 in St. Louis, Missouri. He was a member of Harmony Baptist Church and served our country in the U.S. Navy. Jay loved to write and tell stories, doing crafts, feeding and watching his birds and most of all, spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his son, Mike Cheek (Jenni) of Harrisburg; daughter, Meredith Miller (Brett) of Wynne; step son, Todd Phipps of Benton; eleven grandchildren, Blake, Nicole, Micah, Katelynn, Alek, Chevy, Garrett, Zoe, Autumn, Angel and Dallas and ten great-grandchildren; five sisters, Anita Dennis of West Helena, Cely Kerst (Paul) of Conway, Donna Anderson of California, Jackye Wilder (Joe) of Conway and Jo James of Lexa; a host of nieces, nephews and friends; a very good friend, Dana Crabtree; and good neighbor, Molly Johnston
Jay was preceded in death by his wife of 25 years, Jodie Cheek; his mother, Graple Heathcock; stepfather, Verlon Heathcock; daughter, Monica Lynn Cheek; granddaughter, Presley Phipps; and two sisters, Trudy and Dorothy.
A service for Jay Cheek will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 17, 2021 at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home. Visitation will begin one hour before the service, also at the funeral home. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park in West Helena. Brother Fred Garrison will officiate.
Pallbearers are Blake Johnston, Blake Cheek, Cory Leslie, Ivan Crabtree, Garrett Fore and Alek Fore.
Honorary pallbearers are Tanner Forrester, Randon Bolden and David Elenburg
Services will be directed by Roller-Citizens Funeral Home, West Helena, (870) 572-2571.

I am so glad I got to know Mr. Jay! He was such a sweet man. Always had a story to tell and such a positive attitude!â¤

It was always a joy visiting with Mr. Jay and listening to some of his stories. We loved him and he will be missed by many friends and family.
Sorry to hear on Jays passing. Dennis and myself thought of him and loved him. He was good to me in the passing of Dennis in December. Thank you Jay for the calls in getting through Dennis passing. Loved Jay and Jodie and the visits we had with them. He loved his family. Love and peace to the family.
