of Benton, AR
January 24, 1942 - April 9, 2021
Evelyn Ann Powell Armstrong, 79, of Benton, entered the eternal gates of Glory on Friday, April 9, 2021. She was born January 24, 1942 in Benton to George C. and Mary Hazel Petty Powell.
Evelyn was a woman full of excitement for adventure and travel. You could say her favorite place to be was the beach, but really she liked accompanying anyone to any place, and anytime she got an invitation. Her love for Razorback sports was on a level unmatched to anyone you'd ever meet. You could also find her watching Hallmark movies and game shows. She loved her family with all her heart, but most of all, was an exemplary Christian lady and showed that in her actions throughout her life. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Benton for the last 20 years and previously attended Highland Heights. She will be missed but her memory will be cherished, and her legacy will continue through those who loved and cared for her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Marion ''Jack'' Armstrong; brother, Jim ''Stump'' Foster; and sister, Dorothy Louise Steele.
Evelyn is survived by her children, Jeff Armstrong and wife, Melinda, Bruce Armstrong and wife, Anitta, Steven Armstrong and wife, Christina; grandchildren, Erica Lawrence, Monica Williams and her husband, Ryan, Brent Armstrong, Sara Armstrong, and Jillian Hall and husband, Brandon; sisters-in-law, Alice Scarlet and Jean Foster; a special part of her heart, her dog, Susie Q., and many other nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
A Funeral Service will be Monday, April 12, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Roller-Alcoa Funeral Home, 6700 Alcoa Road, Benton. Interment will follow in Old Rosemont Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday, April 11, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Roller-Alcoa Funeral Home.
Masks are encouraged due to the high-risk category of many of our guests.
The family requests memorials be made in Evelyn's name to the First Baptist Church of Benton Building Fund, 211 S. Market Street, Benton, Arkansas, 72015.
I became acquainted with this sweet lady in 1991. We both worked in the Pathology Department of USMS. We became instant friends. She made our Potlucks enviable events with her world class potato salad and cakes. Actually pretty much anything she prepared won acclaim. I had no idea she had passed and I am so sad. She was a beautiful Christian lady who will be thought of often and missed always. My deepest condolences to all of her family.
Bruce,
I am sorry for you and your family's loss. Children are a reflection of their parents and as many years as I've known you Bruce, I know she was a lady that will truly be missed.
May God bless and comfort you all.
