J.T. James Evans, Sr., 89, of Mt. Pleasant passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2021.

He was born on May 17, 1931 in Melbourne, Arkansas to Robert Ewing Evans and Mary Ollie (Shirley) Evans.

James was a devote Christian; reading his Bible constantly; he was a life-long member of Barren Fork Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder for many years. James loved his family; he had a witty sense of humor and was a great story teller. He could fix anything; he worked in the Aircraft Industries during his early years; he worked at Batesville Manufacturing; as a Janitor at Mt. Pleasant School; he was also a Carpenter; and was Owner and Operator of the service station in Mt. Pleasant. Among many of talents and hobbies over the years, he enjoyed fishing and loved to feed and watch the birds.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Lois Evans of the home; two sons, Tip James Evans, Jr. (Sandra) of Mt. Pleasant and Steven Evans (Treva) of Mt. Pleasant; five grandchildren, Michelle Allen, Billy Finnie, Amber Brumley, Megan Cook, and Summer Reynolds; six great-grandchildren, Olivia Allen, Trey Allen, Trevor Finnie, Kyle Stills, Kiara Bishop, and Hayzen Brumley; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Evans; and two sisters, Mary Ann Nicholson and Margie Spalinger.

Pallbearers will be the Elders of Barren Fork Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Funeral services will begin at 2:00 pm Friday, April 2, 2021 at Barren Fork Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Alan Meinzer and Frank Wann. Burial will follow at Barren Fork Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Batesville.

Visitation will be held starting at 1:00 pm until service starts at the church.

Memorials may be made in his honor to Barren Fork Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 782 Barren Fork Rd, Mt Pleasant, AR 72561.

At the family's request, you are asked to wear a mask for attendance.

A cousin to be proud of. Aunt Ollie was dad’s sister. Dad had such great stories about that family.
