Betty Ann (The Scrubbie Lady) Brown

of Mountain Home, AR

March 15, 2021

Betty Ann Brown (aka The Scrubbie Lady), 83, of Mountain Home, Arkansas passed away on Monday, March 15, 2021, at her home. She was born on May 13, 1937, to the late Arnold and Regenia (Riley) Coan in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Betty enjoyed crocheting, traveling to various places with the Mountain Home Charter Service alongside her husband, going to yard sales with her daughters, going on trips to craft fairs, especially War Eagle. But most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a strong, loving and caring mother, always putting her children's needs before her own. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

She leaves behind two sons: Terry Brown (Sandy) and Scotty Brown (Samantha); two daughters: Sherry Brown and Tammy McCrory (Glenn); one grandson: Ryan McCrory (Michelle); five grandchildren: Jimmy, Brooke, Lainey, Rylee, and Scarlett McCrory; one brother, Rich Coan; one sister, Tammy Coan and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl (Bud) Brown and by her parents.

A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 24, 2021, at Roller Funeral Home.

A Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 25, 2021, at Baxter Memorial Gardens, 25 CR 27, Mountain Home with John Morgeson officiating.

To my mom,
Thank you for leading by example and showing me how to help you raise a happy family. You showed me the that the best way to put a baby down for a nap was to lay down with them. I remember because once I learned, that was my job! Lol. You taught me how to feed and burb and change a babies diaper. The best one was how to get a baby to stop crying, priceless.
You taught me how to contribute with the duties of a household. Between the ages of 5 to 9 when dad was away on business with the car I was in charge of riding my bike to the Alpha Beta to buy all the things on list. I would pay at the register and then turn around so the checker could load up my backpack with that's night dinner. You would reward me by letting sit in my door jam of my room after bed time so I could watch tv in the living room. We did this so my sister Sherry didn't feel left out, her room was between mine and living room. My favorite was getting to watch Tina Turner perform on the Johnny Carson Show. Our best tradition was when we got a bowl of ice cream before bed. So much so that Sherry and I bought some stay up time some nights because you called bed time before ice cream. Can't go to bed yet mom, not before Dessert!
You where real good about keeping door to door salesmen off your porch too. Three words, "NO THANK YOU!" and then shut the door. I used to say, "you're mean", and you would say, "don't forget that!".
I remember you letting me steer the car while you worked the pedals, so cool. You taught me how to check in when I was on a field trip. I would bypass a phone charge by making a person to person call to myself. You would tell the opperator that I wasn't home, and that was the Truth. Lol
You were always home for us, watched all our favourite tv shows with us. You cooked every meal, washed all our cloths, made sure we got to bed after we fell asleep on the couch. You were kind and curtious and had a quite wisdom. My siblings (Sherry, Scotty and Tammy) would agree with the words of the prementioned Tina Turner, you were "Simply the Best".
I summerize by telling of the only two times my Mom broke my heart. Both were when I was about six years old.
The first was when she confirmed that babies come a woman's stomach and NOT the Stork..yuck
The second was when she confirmed that we all have to die.
I remember that each and every day,
It was confirmed on March 15, 2021
When our beloved mother, passed away....
Rest in peace Mom. I love and miss you.
Your first born,
Terry Lee

Tammy and Sherry , So very sorry for the loss of your sweet Momma ! I was just telling my Dad ( John Morgeson) about the sweet little hats your sweet Momma made for the twins when they were born and could not hold their temperature. I remember when your parents heard about the babies being premature and needing to wear caps they immediately got to work. Our babies had the most precious hats in the NICU. Your parents now have many crowns in heaven I'm sure !! Praying for you all during this time of grief and transition.
