Donald Jay McCubbin, 83, of Paris, Arkansas passed away on Friday, March 12, 2021 in Paris. He was born on December 29, 1937 in Paris to his parents, Pleasant John and Lurlin Nola (Hancock) McCubbin.
Donald served in the United States Army Reserves until he had to resign to tend to his dairy farm. He later sold cars for Paris Ford, owned and operated his own gas station in Paris, worked in the oilfield for Miller Drilling and later retired from River Valley Animal Foods in Scranton. He was an avid Arkansas Razorback who attended every home basketball game for many years and traveled to many SEC tournaments with his close friends. He worked crossword puzzles in the newspaper daily, could answer almost every question on Jeopardy and always loved having horses.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by one sister, Donna Ruth Canada; two special aunts, Sue McCubbin and Ruth Hancock and his beloved dog Max.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Carolyn Sue (Hice) McCubbin of Paris; one daughter, Jackienel Johnson and husband Chris of Little Rock; one son, Wesley McCubbin and wife Shannon of Booneville; six grandchildren, Kati Patterson and husband Alex, Fallon Whitson and husband Kaleb, Meagan Hammond and Michael Smith, Gavin Johnson and fiancé Hannah Williamson, Gage Johnson and Grace Johnson and five great grandchildren, Karoline Patterson, Tenzli Whitson, Eli Hammond, Elli Smith and Easton Smith.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m., on Monday, March 15, 2021 at Roller Funeral Home Chapel in Paris.
Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at Roller Funeral Home Chapel in Paris officiated by Rev. Clyde Vire and Rev. Bill VanMeter. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery under the direction of Roller Funeral Home in Paris.
Pallbearers will be Alex Patterson, Kaleb Whitson, Michael Smith, Gage Johnson, Gavin Johnson and Chris Johnson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kati Patterson, Fallon Whitson, Meagan Hammond, Grace Johnson, Gary Schluterman, Nick Mings, Charlie Diagiacamo, Kenneth McCubbin, Robert Valentine, Gary Lensing and Roger Hughey.
We are complying with the Arkansas Department of Health guidelines and all attendees must provide and wear their own masks before entering.

So sorry for your loss. DJ was a great man and friend. I learned a lot of lessons working with him in my younger days. I enjoyed seeing his smiling face when my kids were young and my wife and i would drop by for them to trick or treat. He would load them down with candy.
