He professed a hope in Christ at an early age and joined with Bethel AME Church of Bigelow, AR. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and he loved his family dearly.

He married Christine Coswell on April 13, 1950. To this union seven children were born, Gloria Mabry, Peggy Evans both of Bigelow, Edward Marshall Evans (Doris) of Bigelow, Kathy Tyus (Wesley) of Twin Groves, William ''Harvey'' Evans (Sherry) of Bigelow, Roger Evans of Maumelle, and Chris Evans (Gina) of Conway. Nine grandchildren Corey, Martecia, Crystal, Carlie, Catrice, Samantha, Reginald, Jonathan and Philip. 13 great-grandchildren Gabriel, Anaya, Ty, Olivia, Graylynn, Martell, Everleigh, Andrew, Jeremiah, Jamara, Jayliah, Stiles and Penelope. He is survived by two brothers, Nathaniel and Artis Evans (Maggie) of Bigelow. He was preceded in death by a sister, Katherine Baker of San Diego, CA, and his mother and father.

He began his education at Dunbar High School in Little Rock, AR. He was self-employed in the logging industry. He worked for Burk's Wrecking company in various areas. He also worked for several construction companies, most notably, Nabholz Construction Company for over 40 years.

He was an extremely strong man, both physically and intellectually. He enjoyed working with his hands and mind, especially woodcutting, gardening and anything to help family and friends. He was an active member of Bethel AME Church where he contributed tirelessly to the Kingdom of God through his tithes of time, talent and money. He served as a Trustee, Steward and an excellent Sunday School teacher for as long as most of us can remember!

To the Evans family, I would like to send my condolences in the loss of a great man, Mr Evans. He was a good friend of mine. When he was working , I would see him, and his brother, at Walmart always together. This family treated me as if I was one of their own. I don't come out a lot due to my issues with PTSD. Please Family , know that we are praying for you all, let us know what you need. I will miss him. We are praying for you all, and we love you!!

My sympathies to the Evans family. He will be missed by so many and in so many ways.
I will always cherished the day that Cousin Edward took me to visit the Casey Cemetery. Having left Bigelow some 40 years before, I missed the home going of many beloved friends and relatives. Cousin Ed and I visited the graves and I was finally able to say goodbye to them. It meant a lot.

The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away; blessed be the name of the Lord. Although, we may not be blood relatives, we are family. Losing family members is the hardest part of living. I am so saddened by our loss. Family, I know you are comforted in knowing that one day we will see him again in glory in Jesus' arms. Love you all.

I had the pleasure of working with Ed on several Nabholz jobs over the years. I never met a kinder gentler man. He also would work circles around me, and still ready to get after it at the end of a workday. My prayers are with the entire family at this time.

Rest in Peace Ed!
