Sarah Anne Buchanan, 52, of Batesville, Arkansas, passed away on March 7, 2021.
Sarah, the daughter of James G. Buchanan and Joanna R. Buchanan, was born on January 8, 1969 in Parma, Ohio.
She is survived by her two children, Annabel Gereau and Graydon Gereau. Other surviving family members include her parents; her sisters, Grace Holzman and Alice Sekhar, and one niece and four nephews.
Sarah excelled in her educational pursuits. She graduated from Batesville High School as a National Merit Finalist. Sarah was a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Missouri State University, Springfield Missouri, with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. She received a Master of Arts in Sociology from Georgia State University, Atlanta, Georgia, and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from University of Arkansas, Little Rock.
Music was important to Sarah. She played clarinet in the Batesville High School band and in the Missouri State University band. She was also a gifted artist.
A memorial service for Sarah Buchanan will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at 11:00am at Roller-Crouch Funeral Home in Batesville. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Batesville.
We are complying with the Arkansas Department of Health guidelines. All attendees must provide and wear their own masks and social distancing will be observed.

I'm shocked and saddened to hear about Sarah's passing. My heartfelt thoughts and sincere prayers to the family. Grace and I were friends in junior high, and high school. I remember all the red-headed girls and dad, and spent time at Grace's house. Sarah was the "tag-a-long little sister" that I remember always making me laugh. She was gifted in words, which I delighted in watching she and Grace engage in banter. As an only child, their wit and tiffs were so entertaining. I remember Sarah as wicked smart, witty and talented. Such a beautiful light, my deepest sympathies.

I’m truly heartbroken over Sarah’s passing. I cherished her friendship during my childhood years. We rode the band bus to every away game in adjacent seats and laughed hysterically until Sarah was giggle snorting. I will always remember her wicked sense of humor, her laugh and her compassion and kindness. She was a very good friend and gave me permission to just be myself around her.
