Charlene Elizabeth Ray, age 91 of Marshall, Arkansas was welcomed into heaven on Monday, February 15th, 2021 at Highland Court in Marshall, Arkansas. She was born in Dixon, Illinois on December 13th, 1929 to Charles Edgar Kerchner and Clara Margaret Schamberger Kerchner.
Char was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was a teacher in Springfield, IL for over 20 years. She was an avid bird watcher, a lover of all games (especially when she won), a master on the piano, and a proud member of Collins United Methodist Church. She had a smile that would light up a room. Char was a natural leader. She led meals on wheels and the prayer chain for her church. She also served as Vice President of the residents of Highland Court Care Center.
She is preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Jack Powers; second husband, William Ray; daughter-in law, Kim Powers; and three brothers.
She is survived by sister; Irm (Duainne) Claiborne of Chicago; children; Stephen and Michael Powers both of Arkansas, Trisha (Jeffrey) Coady of Springfield, IL., and William M. (Judy) Ray of Texas; grandchildren: Kyle (Leah) Coady, Katelyn (Sam) Ruma, Conner Coady and Jared Powers; and great-grandchildren, Molly and Lily Coady, Logan, Kathleen and Kensley Powers.
Memorial services will be held at a later date and will be conducted by Wade Funeral Home in Collins, Mississippi.
