Voncile Strobel, 86, a resident of Barling, passed away Thursday, February 18, 2021, at her home.
She was born October 3, 1934, in Lamar County, Mississippi, to the late Delbert and Rhoda (Boone) Whiddon. Voncile spent her working years as a bank teller most recently for Regions Bank in Fort Smith. In her spare time, she loved sewing, dancing and flower gardening, in addition to being a devoted grandmother to her granddaughters.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Rodney Whiddon and infant Buster Whiddon.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, James Strobel of Barling; a son, Kevin Strobel and fiancée, Elizabeth Walter of Barling; a daughter, Rachel Strobel and husband, Robert Voepel of Fort Smith; two grandchildren, Trystin and Jamysin Strobel both of Barling and three sisters, Dimple Stuart of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Gladys Addison of Okeechobee, Florida and Elizabeth Hawk of Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
Rosary will be 7:00 p.m., Monday, February 22, 2021, at Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Barling.
The funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 23, 2021, at Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Barling with Fr. Matt Garrison officiating. Burial will follow at St. Benedict Catholic Cemetery in Subiaco under the direction of Roller Funeral Home in Paris. We are complying with the Arkansas Department of Health guidelines and limiting indoor funeral and visitation attendance to 100 people at one time. All attendees must provide and wear their own masks before entering.
Pallbearers will be Gerald Strobel, Bobby Strobel, Mike Strobel, Kurtis Simmons, Jeff Hall and Jason Hall.
