Gerald Glen Simmons, 78, of the Risher community, died Friday, February 12, 2021, at his home. He was born in Risher, December 3, 1942, to Glen and Mabel Simmons. Gerald was of the Baptist belief. He was a veteran of the United States Army where he served as a medic. He was a graduate of Cash High School, Delta Vo-tech and White River Vo-tech. He was a retired welder and truck driver. Gerald was a Master Mason, Extra Class Amateur Radio operator (AF5KR) and an experienced scuba diver.
Preceding him in death are his parents; wife, Ruth Simmons and granddaughter, Chelsea Layne Simmons.
Left to cherish his memory are two sons, Terry (Sami) Simmons of Bono; Perry Simmons (Dawn Cothern) of Walnut Ridge; five grandchildren, Elisabeth (Chad) Emerson, Rees Simmons, Emily (Hunter) Neal, Nathan Simmons and Derek Miller; and one great grandchild, Oaklynn Emerson.
Family will receive guests at Cash First Baptist Church, Sunday, February 28, from 2:00pm until 4:00pm with a short service to follow. Guests are asked to wear masks and adhere to safety guidelines.

I told the members of the Arkansas Mockingbird Net of Gerald's passing. There were many comments about Gerald and his faithfulness to the net. Many of the members had met Gerald at local hamfest, and commented on what a nice person he was.
