Vada Joy Clark Bickers of Pleasant Plains departed us on February 1, 2021.
Born August 9, 1938 in Batesville, she was the daughter of Alpha C. and Lucille V. Flippo Clark. She attended Pleasant Plains High School where she graduated with honors. She married Jerry H. Bickers of Pleasant Plains on July 9, 1961. He passed away in 2005.
She began her banking career in 1957 with First National Bank and worked with several other financial institutions in the Batesville area before retiring in 2001 while at Merchant and Planters Bank. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling with her daughters and granddaughter, playing the piano, gardening, and cooking. Her homemade cakes and pies were always the highlight of family birthdays and holiday celebrations. A favorite pastime was reading the daily Batesville Guard, doing crossword puzzles, and attending Razorback football or basketball games.
Vada was a member of Cornerstone United Methodist Church and attended Pleasant Plains United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Susan Caplener and husband Darrell of Fayetteville, Lucinda (Cindy) Stewart and husband Jim of Searcy. A granddaughter, Catherine (Katie) Caplener of Austin, Texas and her sister Von Carpenter of Pleasant Plains. Great grandchildren; Ryann, Kayden, Kamryn, Brylan, Andrew, and Brock. Niece and Nephews, Clark, Glenda, Mark Carpenter, Mark and Marty Hearyman, and Tom and Lisa LaFera. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
The funeral service will be held at Roller- Crouch chapel in Batesville at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 8, 2021 with Bill Mills officiating. Burial will follow at Putman Cemetery under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to St Jude Children's Hospital or Putman Cemetery Fund, 4565 Blackland Road, Pleasant Plains, Arkansas 72568.
We are complying with the Arkansas Department of Health guidelines and limiting indoor funeral and visitation attendance to 50 people at one time. All attendees must provide and wear their own masks social distancing will be observed.

Our sympathies for our long distant relatives. My Mother, Blanche Alene Flippo-Birdsong is the younger sister of Lucille, Aunt to Vada. Alene is now 99 years young and living in Illinois. We will keep you all in our prayers.

I loved Vada Joy, and I have so many fond memories of her. She was part of my church family at Cornerstone United Methodist Church. My life was enriched by her beautiful piano playing, mild manner, and sweet smile. She was a blessing and joy to all! I pray that your sweet memories with Vada Joy brings the family comfort.
