It was a privilege and honor to work with Estelle at BJHS. She gave her all and cared about every person she met. She taught me about faith and leaning on God in times of trouble. She was a mentor, friend, and confidant. I have loved her ever since. Her smile, laugh, and love for her family and God is what I will always remember most about her. She made a difference in every life she touched and that was many. I loved her. She will never be forgotten. Rest in the arms of Jesus. Until we meet again.
Though Estelle was actually my Mother's cousin, I have called her 'Aunt Estelle' for over a decade. My mother (Nancy Lewis Sutcliffe) always told me about all the good times they had growing up as cousins, and especially the adventures they shared as beautiful young ladies during WWII when Mobile was flooded with handsome young men in uniform! For the last 14 years or so, whenever I had the opportunity, I would always stop and spend a night with her in Pensacola -- we would talk for HOURS about everything -- the past, the present, family, politics, religion, movies, books, hard times in our lives -- nothing was off limits, and we would always stay up for hours beyond when we should have been in bed! I was in awe of the depth of love for her family & friends, her keen intelligence & insightfulness, and how she had come through some very difficult times without any bitterness in her heart. She was truly an amazing woman, and I feel like I've lost my mother all over again, but I REJOICE that she is on the other side now with my Mom, Bette, Jim, and so many others laughing and having new 'good times.'
All of her family are in our thoughts and prayers. Bob and I have been blessed to have gotten to know her. The visits that Judy spent with Estelle (along with Havana, the therapy dog) with Hospice were special moments . An hour visit was
never enough. Always the teacher, she will be missed by her "students" --
all of us! With love, until we meet again. The Corwins.
Death is nothing else but going home to God, the bond of love will be unbroken for all eternity. -Mother Teresa
I was so saddened when looking at two other obituaries I came across Estelle’s. I worked with her at BJHS and greatly enjoyed our daily conversations. She was so great with all of the students and never forgot a face.
“BOOâ€, it’s me Mama. You gave 1000% to survival. Giving up was not an option. So you didn’t. You patiently waited for God to say: “Come Homeâ€. I know your Eternal Life in Heaven is Heavenly. We will join you soon. I love you.
Dina, please accept my sincere sympathy upon the loss of your mother. A mother is often our first best friend and a forever friend. Praying for you and your family.

Estelle was the kindest, most gracious neighbor when I first moved to Batesville. We have remained in touch through the years as each of us moved. I will never forget her lovely smile, her warm thoughts, and gentle ways. Our world has lost and angel but heaven has gained one.
