Mary Lois Elam died on Saturday, January 30, 2021, at Arkansas Hospice River Valley Home in Russellville, Arkansas. She was born on November 15, 1929, in Searcy County, Arkansas, to Troy Olsen and Edna (Morrison) Nichols. Lois was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Brown; her brother, Olen Nichols, Jr.; and her sisters, Doris Burkhart, Zella King, and Mava Nichols.
Lois graduated from Everton High School when she was 17 years old and went to work and helped with her younger siblings. She married Brown Elam in 1953. She worked as a cook and supervisor for over 30 years for the Harrison School District. She attended the First Assembly of God Church and was a devout Christian.
Lois is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, David and Terri Elam, and their children Brett Elam and Kaity Elam; her daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Tim Carr and their children, Amanda Keaster and Clint Brown; six great-grandchildren; her brothers and sister-in-law, Bernie and Alberta Nichols and Bob Nichols; her sisters and brother-in-law, Helen Humphrey and Charlotte and Bill King; numerous nephews; and a host of friends.
Graveside service was 2:00 PM, Wednesday, February 3, 2021, at Maplewood Cemetery, with David Smith officiating.
Pallbearers were William Brett Elam, Clint Brown, Jeremy Keaster, and David Alan Whitmire.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Harrison Faith Assembly of God Church, 112 Valley View Church Road West, Harrison, Arkansas 72601.
Roller-Christeson Funeral Home is complying with the Arkansas Department of Health guidelines for COVID-19 and limiting indoor funeral and visitation attendance. All attendees must provide and wear their own masks before entering.
